Oh, and for the folks that talk trash on the B16A engine:

I got a ride along at Buttonwillow in a B16A equipped EJ6 coupe by a really good, aggressive driver. It was my first ride along; I'm an aggressive driver and can handle a lot, but this guy was good enough to give me a BAD case of motion sickness. I felt like I had 12 beers and had to puke my guts out by the 3rd lap.

My ride starts at ~4:45. I'm in the blue helmet with the Space Invader sticker on the back:

His best time of the day was only around 1 second slower than a K20 EG hatchback! B16A POWER!!!!!!!!

dude can definitely drive. any idea what all was done to the engine and car? looks and sounds like a pretty rigid setup. also looks like he was driving a lil more aggressive with you in the car vs. the guy before you

yea i think my car is reading incorrectly, either rpm or speedo, because my trans is only at about 4k at 80. Which is much higher than my ls which was at 3.5k at 80, but people say its supposed to be at 3.8, so maybe im actually at about 4.3 at 80 as well

Was driving home last night when a new Mugen Si drives up next to me on the highway and pops the clutch in and decides to fiercely rev at me. He was right at my drivers door so I guess he didn't consider what could be lurking in the front bumper

He shifts down a few gears and nails it creating a noise similar to a bees nest in my ear, I just ping it in fifth and gingerly breeze by him, letting him hear the beautiful sound of open waste gate.

Swear the cold weather gave me some power back lol!

Wow, that is aggressive, that dude is all over the place. I guess it doesn't help that he's using stock belts - I'm used to seeing vids w/ the driver belted in much more securely. He must be good, but it almost looks too aggressive to be fast. What was his best laptime for the day?

(btw, when I saw that hair, I was thinking it was Darrin, but obviously that's the wrong car to be Darrin)

Hey Matt, you need to come up to glen burnie with me one night. I had this kid in a turbo tc mess with me, he was talking s**t and I told him, go ahead I am next to you and I will go off your break. I let him jump and walked his ***, he had the WTF lok on his face like just because he has a turbo nobody can beat him, lol. he turned off on the next street and I never saw him the rest of the night.

 

That crowd sort of sketches me out, try to stay away from there.

As far as I could tell it was a B16A with an ITR intake manifold, OEM ITR 4-1 header, and an exhaust. The car is on Koni/GC, has stiff upgraded bushings, and was wearing Nitto NT-01 R compounds.

Yeah, the stock belts had me flying all over the place. The laps with me in the car were only in the 2:06 range, but I think his best of the day was in the 2:04 range. That put him not too far behind Katman's K20 EG and right with Lee's 97 ITR.

With the way in which he could use and control his oversteer, I bet he could be much faster with a full bucket seat and a harness. He's got a lot of track days under his belt.

Darrin was there and ran a 1:59.XX!!! A CR-X with a K24 and aero was only 1 second faster. I can only imagine what Darrin's car could do with aero mods.
