Morning all, I kinda need some help from you guys...

This is the deal, I have a friend that got himself a DB1 (yeah I know is not a DA and prolly is not on the right thread, but the problem can be on a DA too, so) he has the B18A1 still, already needs some work to it (or an engine swap, but hi has no money for that right now, so he is trying to fix this problem Asap, since the car is wasting gas like if it a V8)



^^^ On this pic (sorry for the spanish) it shows ya the check engine on, also the S3 display stays on all the time (blinking) eventhou the car is in Drive, another thing he mentioned was, to go from 2nd to 3rd gear, he needs to rev the car at least to 3K RPMs so it could go to 3rd gear, anything less then 3K RPMs would not let the tranny change any gears...


Knock sensor was already change for a new one, sparks and sparks plugs were also change, ECU is not showing any codes, so we actually don´t know what it might be...


Any help from you guys would be appreciate, thanks in advance...

its an automatic and he has to rev match it to shift it?
So you said if you try to pull the code it shows no code even though the CEL is on?

 

Yes Sir... That is what´s going on right now... No codes in the ECU whatsoever...

In order for him to shift between 2nd and 3rd he needs to rev to 3K RPMs and that´s when the tranny shifts...

 

Well I would say something is possibly wrong with the trans or wiring from the trans to the ECU.
Take the trans out and go from there...

 

Yeah, I think he is going to be taking the tranny out to see what could be the issue, if not he already thinking on getting a manual tranny for his DB1...

I'd give anything to be back in a DA, but this no job **** sucks..economy in the slums.
drove a DA the other day...got the itch. I forgot how easy it is to heel/toe in a DA :D

 

Hell, you're not the only one who is jobless, I am too. I just got laid off again! I have no problem keeping the DA really. I spent a lot on gasket and all new fuild changes and all. The guy I got it from half *** everything on the car and I cleaned the mess up. Return it stock parts, got my a/c working. Only thing I need to do is get the right power steering pulley and then I'm set. It's clean in my hands now. More likely I'mma keep the car. I love it every way. It's the best car I ever owned! What about you? Keep yours!

How do I carefully remove the rear window washer? I need to remove it to blow out the stuck elements that are in it so my washer fluid will freely go through it when I use it.

thanks! its in and running. basically just a jdm itr motor with bolt ons. crome sucks though, doesnt run as smooth as i would like it to.

Ill have to take some interior shots i have owned a couple da's and this one has a different matterial on the seats and has black seats with a tan center looks great and is flawless. Has almost 200k miles and the interior and engine bay look like it has 20k on it.

I have another question to add regarding the electric seat belts...

My wife´s DA is in mint conditions, the only things to fix to the car when we got it was to buy two new tires for the front (we got 4 Toyo tires) and the pass. seat belt is not working right, I swapped my seat belt ECU from my car to her car, and it does not do much for saying, the wife told me one day, she saw the thing moving once when she opened the pass door to get something, and it went back once she put the key on the ignition, but nothing yet ever since, any help guys...!?

I can try to clean things up here with the language (I know my english is not perfect, but I really hope you understand the problem)...
