Can you be a little more specific, how do you know its not burning it properly? And what SOHC is it? Millage? Mods? recent maintenance?

Is there anything else you notice about the car about how the car drives or anything at all.

well the motor is a d16y8 with crx rods and pistons (p72 i believe) stock fuel rail. stock injectors & oem honda headgasket. i noticed blue smoke at about 4000 rpms and higher. recent maintenance was oil change, ngk spark plugs, ngk wires. the motor has roughly 10k miles

Y8's are VTEC heads, I know that VTEC motors consume oil, more so than non VTEC motors. I think the dealers say about a quart every 2,000 miles roughly, if you go around (like me) reving the **** out of your motor. If you drive under 3,500 RPM in every gear, you will notice at a lot less oil will be consumed.

My D16Z6 burns about 1 quart ever 2,500 miles roughly with only 18k on it.

Sounds like a valve seal guide leak. I had the same problem. What happens is when you step on it, the valve seal guide is leaking oil into the combustion chamber causing the blue smoke. Heat and rapid movements of the valves causes the seal to expand and let unwanted oil into the combustion chamber. That is what lead to the end of my Y7.

How much oil are you using over the time from oil change to oil change?

Check your oil every week. If you notice you lose about a quart a week, that will be it.

Well you must be using some, cause you notice it coming out your tailpipe right when "VTEC kicks in" YO!

From the sounds of things, its nothing you have to worry about yet. Its when it gets worse then a quart in between oil changes.

I have a high flow Random Technology Cat and when I shift at 6,500RPMs there is so much blue smoke behind my car, its incredible nothing is wrong with the car. I think the cat has very little to do with it.

All a cat does is that it changes the carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide and makes it safer for the rest of the world and tree huggers. for tree huggers. NOT!!!
