my test pipe came in today and it says its meant for our cars, i get the cat off and look what we have here the ****ing test pipe doesnt fit anyone have that problem? could it be because of my DC header?
Might be able to give you some insight, but you're not giving any decent info relating to the problem.
- what header do you have, what year/model car was it made for?
- what exhaust is on your car, what year/model is it made for?
- was your cat stock?
- are you using an exhaust extension piece?
- any other relevant info?
But the real question is why the hell are you running a test pipe? Gains are minor and now you're polluting more. Test pipes are for full blown race cars, not street cars, not daily drivers, and especially not in California. You do realize that they occasionally do roadside checks/test for things like cats, right? Is that couple horsepower worth the risk? Personally I don't think so.
Kuppa, I hope you're being sarcastic.
ionno which header, all i know is that their DC came with the car stock B pipe with a vibrant axle back, stock cat no exhaust extension. probably going to see what the guy said that sold it to me probably just put my stock cat back on. better than running straight pipes

That might help you figure out if the problem is w/ the test pipe or with your setup. But from what you said, it sounds like it's with the cat.
This is the main reason why I didn't want to buy an off the shelf high flow cat for my car. I wanted to make it myself so that I knew it would fit the exhaust and header I was running. Especially since I had strange exhaust fitment issues previously.
Here's the cat I made last weekend (SMSP highflow spun cat + my piping and flanges)

(yes my welding is only mediocre, but I only get the chance to weld once or twice a year. The extra O2 bung is for a wideband O2 sensor Church will use when they tune the car.)

makes sense. the blue would look really nice in the future. how big is the garage? thats what really matters!!! lol
would it be weird to use a test pipe as a resonator? probably lol, but right now i have an axle back exhaust so if i just got a new resonator would it be like having a catback? currently have a vibrant axle
no...
the stock piping is smaller than most if not all cat backs...
the cat back is all exhaust piping from the "cat" back to the bumper so an axle back with a new resonator is not a cat back...
Just take it to a muffler shop... if you have the axel back then they can custom weld up a nice full cat back with a cat delete and your resonator for as little as $150 depending on how much material you need... then tke it home and drop the exhaust and paint it with a high temp exhaust paint so that your welds dont rust... its cheap and it works and sounds great... or shell out the money for a decent cat back from one of the major brands

If it's only a half inch too short I'd just bolt it up and see how it fits. The hangers should pick up most of that slack and as long as you don't get fitment issues around the lca you should be OK. Who knows, might even put your exhaust tip in a better location. I know with my previous setup I mix & matched some parts to get my exhaust to pull back a bit so it didn't stick out so far.
hey thanks colin i was able to slave under my car for nearly 2 hours and i got it to align. I think im going to go with a custom exhaust, i shop around here my friend went in there to get a catback for his v6 passat and it was estimated 150, and he has 2 mufflers i believe. im trying to figure out if i should just do a whole new thing or just keep my axle back and just doing a b pipe? i dont really wanna have a name brand exhaust because i wanna be different ^_^ even though most of the tegs around here all have ebay fartcans that rattle.. i just want a little deeper sound at lower RPMs when i hit 3K+ it starts to roar <3 my teggie.

my friend in his passat says im wasting my money wanting to sell my sub and buy some sways, he's going ot get a GTI in a year or so mk4 i believe so hopefully by than ill have my engine build and show him that my 17 year old car will smash his GTI =]
Just get a resonator and ES Oval or MagnFlow muffler and get the shop to make the piping.
I have a resonator, Magnaflow "Stock" muffler and custom 2.5 pipping on my DA now, looks stock sounds great.
You may want to spend the $$ and have them do stainless.

i was thinking of getting the es oval muffler and having my uncles shop do it up in stainless steel for my db1
has anyone ran sk2 springs or sk2 struts? im thinking about getting that setup for my db1
