~DA SQUAD Version 2.0~
Idk why I dont have a build thread, just never really thought of doing it lol
I just got my F&F Type II coilovers and an ASR subframe brace/ 24mm swaybar combo this weekend from Wek sos. I can't post any pics of the whole car till I get some new wheels. I sold my Gram Lights so it's sitting on steelies once again lol
Hey so im not really sure if the motor in my DA is stock or has been swapped.
B18a1, 248,000 miles, runs REALLY good. only problem i've had with it was alternator go out, and some overheating due to not enough oil along with radiator hoses split.
I either want to turbo it, maybe with a cheaper setup like t04e
or swap a XSi B16a in it.
Opinions?
P.S. for 248,000 milles the car is clean as hell!

i agree, but disagree to a point...obviously you want to build on a budget, so with that being said, do this...
1. take your time and piece together your own kit. it allows you to mix and match what parts you want from each company.
2. in doing this, you can buy each piece as you either a. come across a good deal on something or b. buy it as you get the money
3. once you have rounded up all your parts, make sure you know what you are doing before you install them. get on homemadturbo.com and read read read. thats how i learned.
4. GET A QUALITY TUNE!! i can not stress this enough. if you want it to last, you HAVE to get a good tune!
just a few things to think about before "going cheap"
if only i could have a dollar for every time i've heard/read about how slow b16s are in da's. it is a completely senseless swap in a da in my opinion. stick to the ls and boost it or do an ls/v. either way, do it RIGHT the first time and TUNE it afterwords.
I had a b16 in my da and went 11.7 @124mph didnt feel that slow to me...O wait did I mention it had a small turbo hooked to it
...If your going to boost your ls I would do a compression check motor with 248,000 miles may not be to healthy...New rings and bearings may be a good idea too..b18-t ftw

I had fun with my B16, I say its def a good first motor swap to do. Cheap and easy.
I would by no means call it fast, even on spray it was "quick".
This whole I want to build a fast car but don't want to spend money really grinds my gears. Go buy an SS Auto Chrome turbo kit off ebay and have fun picking up the pieces of your motor
