The real limiting factor is the rods/pistons, those will limit you to about 220 to be safe, replace those with some eagles and vitaras, and u will be good for 350+ depending on your set up.

It really depends on how good the tune is. My car is making about 280-290 on a completely stock long block. I run 18psi at the track and 14psi on the street daily. The car makes about 250-260hp on 14 psi. Been running it like that for a while now (8 months), see 's the track almost every weekend.

a stock sohc trapping 117 is for sure the high end of what id run on a stock block, but props either way...

pump gas i wouldnt go over 220-230... race gas with a perfect tune maybe 300 at the track only if u have some *****... but 260-270 to be safe...

like he said, pistons/rods are the weak link, sleeves and crank are as strong as b-series (some say stronger)

Unless you have real data on thickness and all other physical factors on b-series vs. D-series sleeves, I would be very careful saying that D-series is stronger than B... I have personally owned both, made 560 whp B16a stock sleeves...(cracked 2 sleeves on next pass) and a 300 whp z6. Have not seen any 500+ stock sleeve D-series, but anyone that has should def. chime in on their experiences.

i didnt say they were stronger, i said some say stronger...

they are composed of the same materials, the only reason that they wouldnt be capable of the same power levels is because of the efficiency of the head limiting the hp output...

i do know of a few sohc stock sleeve cars running vitaras and making 470+...

The question is really how thick are the sleeves vs each other. Its obvious that D-series will not make as much power as b-series (head flow) and as such will never have identical cyl. environments. That being said, its apples and oranges for comparison. Anyone know what the exact thickness is for D-series and b-series?

Valvetrain= zex 59300 cam, springs, and retainers. This setup is try'd and true in the SOHC world and makes good power. Is there something better available, Yes but not for the same price. Clutch i would probably run the action 2md with 6puck disc. I'm actually running a cheap ebay XTD stage 4 with unsprung 6 puck. I haven't had any problems with SO FAR. Car is making roughly 290whp and has been beat daily for the 6 months the clutch has been in the car. Never slipped once and very drivable. However i won't recomend it because is cheap. I'll be running the action 2md shortly.
