There is:

STA-BIL® Ethanol Fuel Treatment & Stabilizer

There is also another version called 360 that is more than 4 times the cost. Some say STA-BIL works, others say it doesn't. There are other brands than Gold Eagle that make it as well, but most would probably say STA-BIL is the better bet. (Golden Eagle makes HEET products too, and most people love it.)

Here is the company's defense on that it works. I could post TONS of links on people who call BS.

Five STA-BIL Myths, Debunked. Get The Real Fuel Stabilizer Story | Gold Eagle

My take - I use their products in pretty much all of my stuff that sits for extended times: weedwacker, snow blower, kid's ATVs, lawnmower, pickled race car tanks, etc... never have issues with starting it later. To each his own, just my opinion so take it for what it's worth.

I dont wanna say its not neccesary, I dont have the experience to do so. Not to mention I've always been able to start up the car in the winter on usually warm days for a quick cruise and usually put fresh fuel in at the time as well.

I always put ethanol stabilizer in my e98. Also keep the barrel sealed at all times tightly and it'll last a long time.

I have not used it as well without issue other than maybe some minor idling misfires. Please don't think I am saying it's a must. I was just trying to answer his question to the best of my ability with unbiased fact and personal testimonials. I guess I should have taken the time to explain I also haven't used it.

I love the answer to the kerosene question though. If that isn't marketing BS, I don't know what is haha!

I think ethanol has come a long way in recent years. I can remember it separating somewhat quickly in past years. I recently let one car sit with E85 for about 8 months months and it started right up and ran fine for the whole tank. Now obviously it's hygroscopic, but in the end what fluid in a car isn't? Everything has it's limits to exposure.

So I forgot which thread I mentioned it in, but what do you YOU guys think I should run?
I live about 20-25 miles from an e85 station, commuting there to fill up is pretty much out of the question because ill have to waste two gallons for the trip and nearly an hour getting there (SoCal traffic lol)
I had thought of getting barrels myself before, using perhaps a truck to go and fill them, assuming they were small enough that I could lift them in and out of the bed. Never really thought about getting them shipped, I have no clue how much that would cost though. Plus I would need a pump to use them, right?
Being stuck with 91 it's either that, or a DIY meth kit I guess (what I was originally planning)

Whoa! I just found out, through Google, that the new RaceTrac (gas station) uptown has E85. I personally don't mind driving 20-25 miles for fuel. I'll have to get some containers to store it in, but that's not an issue. I wish I had a way of moving steel drums at home. I can get 55 gallon fuel drums for free.

That brings me to my newest issue... I'm not setup for E85 at all. These 750s and my walbro 255 are going to run short.

We ran ID2000's and magnafuel mp4303 to over 800 with fuel left. Switched to 8 2000's same pump aiming for 1200. Ignite E98

Plan is right at 400. Car is down for electrical issues though.

Ignore if that wasn't directed at me.

Yeah I dunno who hatchy was addressing, going to be low 300s for now and shoot for around 450 later, mostly so I can push a smaller turbo farther and make the build safer since all stock b20 (yolo I know)
Maybe I'll just use some other containers for e85 and not barrels like freemana said, how much can I make on 1000ccs with E85
Thank god I haven't bought a pump yet, I just might end up going corn : D 🌽

You can do 300 with the right turbo in the first place and do it on 93 octane and don't even bother with either of this stuff. then you can use your "YOLO" philosophy to your heart's content.

Well who said I was stopping at 300?

Plus you should know we don't have 93 out here in cali

No one knows you're in California (at least from your profile).
But 92 can at least be found.

Shodan doesn't remember me guys

In all seriousness though I just figured I've mentioned where I live quite a bit in recent threads, that's all :p
Yeah I'm not going to waste the time hunting out the wherever the 92 station is, not worth the time or hassle; e85 on the other hand; I just got a new idea for containing and picking it up, I'm now in serious consideration of using it especially seeing how I've so fortunately procrastinated on buying a pump thus far.
How much could I push the 1000s to with e85? At least 400 no?
Deatshwerks just fyi

I just installed the Nippon turbo pistons onto stock rods in my ride now. I am running it around N/A now because of break in period, so far so good. I bought them because my OEM pistons in my LS cracked a ring land. I was at 305whp.

That was plenty of power for me so I bought the Nippons as the replacement so the bottom end would be more reliable. I think since my set up is stronger I will shoot closer to 350whp. Anyway I think Nippon (from research) is a great option for those looking for more stout than stock but not looking to build something like 500+whp. Although I wouldn't trust them on stock rods past 400whp.

They are better than stock but not as good as forged and bridge the gap nicely for those of us not trying to spend thousands overbuilding a bottom end to run less than 500whp.

I agree with this. I was doing and oe rebuild and ended up needing to overbore so I went with nippons in 81.5mm. My engine has held up really well to a lot of abuse. I'm currently making around 380whp is my best guess.

Default Youre go-to piston?

Btw if you guys are worried about humidity and e85, buy these things

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003QZ...9153XXC9FA3B17

Once theyre used up you bake them until theyre all dried out and use em again. They have smaller ones. The one linked would work well if you had the barrel in some sort of small closet. Alternatively you could get the small altoid tin sized ones and mount them inside the barrel of you can find a way to do that.

Yeah, I ran Arias, JE and Mahle and for the past couple years have been on CP.

A few of the 1100+ plus HP guys said CP is what they were using and suggested I go with CP. I've been running them for about 2 years and have put a few thousand miles and tons of passes on them and they have been great.

As far as strength goes, I'm not an engineer but when I was using Arias Pistons I sent a valve into the motor and it went right through the piston, I did the same thing years later with JE pistons and all the valve did was ding the piston up and sent the valve into the turbo manifold.
