Default wrapping a/c lines

what is everyone using to wrap the a/c lines? I've seen some people use header wrap and others use that shiny stuff. To me, it seems like the header wrap would be better but I'm not entire certain. Would you guys rather use the shiny stuff or header wrap?

I use the shiny stuff, it works fine on my setup. If it's good enough to withstand a Texas summer, then it's good enough for me.

I am assuming you have a prelude.... The upper AC line will bust on you over time, so make sure you wrap it! I ran the drag gen 2 kit a few years ago and the turbo was top-mount and after about 2 years the exhaust housing finally got hot enough to melt the AC line then POP pshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Anyways, the shiny reflective heat wrap works very well.

So your a/c lines were not rapped at all when it burst? Damn man, actually that happened to me a few years ago too! hha, so now I'm trying to find a new a/c line as well as take some preventative measures so that it doesn't happen again! It was kinda cool cuz it looked like a purge valve for some NNAAWWWZZZ!!! haha

So you guys figure that I should be fine with the silver shiny stuff huh? I guess I'll give that stuff a shot then! thanks.

What do you guys use to re-wrap AC lines if you didnt before and your turbo melted off the insulation?

I want to reinsulate the pipe and I cant find that kind of insulation anywhere. You cant buy it from Honda. And no hardware stores or McMaster sell pipe insulation that is THIN! Its all too thick and touches my turbine.

The line burst before I wrapped it. Trust me, use this stuff and you don't have to worry about melting any hoses.

I had no clue what happened when my line burst, it looked like a 2 minute long purge valve going off lol.

You can purchase it here:

There are a few other companies that sell it but for some reason I cannot remember who they are.

shiny stuff rejects heat...header wrap insulates and holds heat in.

Correct

You can also get the shiny stuff with an adhesive backing. This is very helpful, but still be sure you overlap it just as you would with header wrap.

The shiny stuff is Aluminum Foil Tape...YOu can easily use Aluminum Foil but I would only use the tape and keep it tight...Then you can take a round, hard object, like a screwdriver handle or anything similar, and then just rub it on top of the foil tape to cling onto the hose/lines nice and tight...I use it at work when I have to heatshrink telephone cable splices...It protects the ends of the cable where the heatshrink ends...It works very well and I use it on directly on my turbine housing and the underside of my turbo heatshield as well...The glue will burn off and smoke a bit at first, but that only lasts a minute...I can touch my heatshield and its not scalding hot...

Please forgive me I'm a little drunk right now, but are you saying that you put it on as the tape type stuff, and even after the glue melts away that it stays? What kind of foil is this again? As in brand... Also how well does it form to curvatures?
