Default wrap IC pipe?

i wanted to paint IC pipe to black only for look, then i have been told that wrap it would be good choice also from performance aspect (isolate IC pipe from engine bay heat).

I am not sure ,Is it bad or good?

Thanks

I can only see gains from wrapping if it's close to DP or something else that gets extremely hot

NO.

Dont.

Wrap absorbs and holds heat, not reflects it.

i did some research and was told that you don't wrap b/c you're basically insulating the charge pipes, need to deflect/reflect heat. i went with DEI reflect-a-gold

i wonder if there is any iat testing to back up these rational ideas... would the charge piping retain heat soak or not if it is wrapped or coated...

I have talked to the owner of ThermalTech Coatings and he does use a coating that is semi-gloss black and it is designed to help the metal disperse heat better. Check his site out for more info. http://www.thermaltechcoatings.com/ He coated all my hot stuff and I will not do another setup without getting it coated again.

:O)

Yup.

Most OEM chargepipes that are OEM and wrapped with "foil" are steel as well. Aluminum "Foil" over aluminum piping is going to do zero, AND have an adhesive layer between them... One would think that the layer would surely not transfer heat as well as a coating.

A application specific coating has the ability to not only sheild from ambient heat, but to help pull heat out of the piping due to increaced surface area in addition to its properties as well.
