would this work
ight guys i gotta pass emissions in less than a month and i need some help. I have a t3/t4 turbo, (DRAG turbo kit), with built motor, 660cc injecotrs, yada yada, open dump wastegate and no cat, straight pipe, pushing 14psi.
OK what should i do. what i was thinking,
1. should i close loop the dump back into my exhaust.
2. should i cut out the test pipe, wled on flanges and bolt my stock cat back on for the time being but, (will stock cat do its job with added pressur?)
3. turn down boost to none
4. insert an after market cat for time being that will 100% restrict me BUT pass emission for time being?
please help guys. I want to schedule it for an exhaust/welding shop ASAP

your stock cat will be fine, turn down the boost alitle, and plumb your dump tube back into the down pipe at least 12-18" away from the turbine discharge. you'll probubly pass with just that alone.

I asked the same question a little bit ago and it seems that there are a bunch of guys with no cat that passed, also don't worry about re-routing the dump, you won't be boosting anyway.

thanks man, i read that link, i now have a p28 in my 5th gen tunned with the new software NepTune, does that mean since i am back to OBD1, ill have an easier time........i guess ill just turn down boost to none, close the dump, and put the cat shell over my test pipe.....and at least give it a shot, if i pass great, if not ill be back posting

smog inspectors are looking for exhaust leaks, and exhaust gas that doesn't pass through the cat/muffler. when your dump tube isn't rerouted through the down-pipe, that exhaust gas is vented to atmosphere unchecked. they may not pass you for this.
i havent been tot he NJ inspection in a while, there is no smog inspectors or anythign like that, its usually kids that just play with computers and last time all they did was blast my system and barely looked at anything, its all in who you get to check your car
