I hope you at least made a note of what base timing was set at, if not the entire tune will be off.

Not really. You would have to use negative timing to have significant unburned fuel left.

use digital timing light, set to 16* and make the TDC mark line up.

But we are assuming the distributor was set at 16* for the initial tune... really it could have been anywhere within it's adjustment range.

When Joe@Locash tuned my car he busted out the timing light to double check before he tuned it. That should always be done.

With a car up to temp and idling at 750-950, on Crome i got into the idling portion of the map, and set it to 16.5*. And then use the timing light set to 0 and set the timing according to the middle mark on the crank pulley. Some are red, some are white depending on the car. On more advanced managements like Hondata, Neptune etc. you can go in and lock timing at a set number. I set timing on ever car i tune.

Yea ignition sync really is the best way to do it

without knowing what the dizzy was originally set at the only way I can see to do it right is to set the dizzy at 16 and tweak the tune from there. anything else is just guess work.
