Default How to properly advance timing?

I've read all the various how-to's, but i'm still a little confused about the jumper setup and whether it can be done without a timing gun. I only want to advance it a little bit--i think it may be off as well. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

you can adjust it without a timing gun, but you can also skydive without a parachute. I wouldn't want to do either without the right equipment.

those timing guns are expensive. try borrowing one if you can, unless for some reason you plan on changing yor timing frequently.

You loosen your distributor and adjust. But it is always best to have a timing light or else you will not know what it is set at. Also you need to have the jumper hooked up. Get a repair manual tells how to do everything pretty much.
