Default wideband display

i am new to wideband and here's my question.

why do people use LED display? why dont they display on laptop or palm and save all the data (datalog) rather than keep looking at the display and trying to memorize all the readings?

once again, i am new.

many people use laptops for logging, however the LED display is nice to keep in the car at all times so that you can always keep an eye on it while driving (especially nice for daily drivers).

some datalogging program reads RPM also. how does wideband know the RPM while there's no wire connection b/w the wideband and the ECU?

also which widebands are capable of datalogging? I know FJO and techedge can do. how about aem uego and plxdevices?

how come FJO charges for datalogging software while techedge doesn't?

there is an input on the control/logging unit for an RPM signal.

Because they are stunnas...

You can find backlit PDAs that make a very nice wideband display AND datalog for about the price of, say, the Techedge display. ~$40.

Its a PITA to keep a laptop in your car all the time. I only datalog with my AEM EMS maybe <5% of the time.

palm IIIc is backlit and so much better than the led kit. good for daily driving and you can log when ever you want too.

unfortuneately the sony will not work. i tried to use my sony and it doesn't read a null modem connection like the palm does. just get a cheap palm old style on ebay...don't forget to but the hotsync cable too.

As everyone has said most people run their LED wideband displays just to monitor how their car is running (not necessarily for tuning), if your A/F goes a little high in the middle of a run you can let off... Anywho, most of us do run dataloggers, whether it be Hondata, FAST, MoTeC, etc. they all work basically the same... For NHRA, etc. you can't run a laptop in your car during while you run so the next best thing is a datalogger... Just my $0.02
