Default Why Are My #'s So Low?! HELP?!

Ok today was the day I been waiting for. I hit the dyno and well, was pretty dissapointed. First off the owner which is a friend of mine told me that I should be happy with my #'s but I was a little pissed. he also told me that he wouldn't trust D series motors with 10psi as the rod or rods might snap or bend, but check out my dyno sheet and tell me what I can do and or check to get my hp to about 200whp and my trq up there to atleast mid 180's or higher.

Setup:

Drag Manifold
Turbonetics T3/T4 * 0.63 a/r *
Tial 35mm WG * 7.25psi spring *
Greddy Type S BOV
2.25" IC Piping
DSM 450cc Injectors
VAFC
Walboro 255lph Fuel Pump
2.5" Downpipe & Exhaust with no catyletic converter

these #'s jsut seem kinda low since Is een some pretty wicked dynos of people on this board running 8-10psi and getting higher #'s then me

He told me that my needle crept up to 10psi but held steady there and didn't go over up top, and I still made these low #'s Anyone know what the possible causes could be, and how I can improve my #'s? I was told my a/f was 11.5 and up top 10.9 so I know that i'm golden in that department.

Any help is appreciated guys. Thanks in advance.

They seem fine man.. My friend got 182whp @ 10psi on his Y7..
YOu have to remember that most of these "wicked" dyno numbers other ppl have are because they have either Hondata,Uberdata or any other kind of EMS..

What's wrong with the Dsm's? They can easily support 250whp, and max out around 300-315wp.

You need something to control the timing. I am right there with this tuner in saying I wouldn't go over 10. heck I wouldn't go over 8 personally if I was doing it.

You need Hondata, uberdata, etc to control the timing. The injectors won't be the problem as long as they are functioning properly and wired correctly (resistor box).

See my sig for my 262whp dyno on a dynojet. This was at 12.5psi. My a/f on this was 12.2-12.3. You and I have similar setups except I have 3" exhaust.

the peak numbers aren't horrible but that powerband leaves a lot to be desired. I pulled 193 whp on the afc hack with dsm 450s, afc, and .42/.48 t3 -- but then again, I made 185 ft lbs of torque from a bit over 4k rpms until it falls off.

It just seems that no matter what I did, I couldn't pull any HP out of the AFC hack... I'm running uberdata now though, and have yet to dyno.

your A/F ratio was 11, of course your not going to make max power... Get some real fuel management, shoot for an A/F of about 12-12.5, and step your timing back about .6 degrees per pound and you should make 200whp

what wouyld be the best way for me to increase my hp a little to achieve my 200whp goal, and well I really want to increase my trq if that's possible . . . what can I do for more trq?

As for uberdata . . . .If I decide to run uberdata which I am going to do if that will get me that extra 12hp i'm looking at to achieve my 200hp, how can I tune it on the fly at the dyno . . . do I need to buy a chip burner and a laptop to take it with me and tune on the spot? Or how would I go about that?

STD is always higher than SAE numbers.

thanks guys for all your words of wisdom. I guess i'm going to be looking to try out uberdata. My question would be, how can I tune my car with uberdata on the spot like say at the dyno? Do I need to buy a chiop burner and a laptop and take all that with me, or is there a less expensive route to being able to tune it on the spot. I mean the #'s don't look to bad, but I was expecting the #' to be a little higher and it seems that my trq is just way low, don't you think?

You should of bumped it up to 12psi, your AF was already at a safe level and it probably would have evened out. General rule of thumb "if your AF is fat, just add more boost to make it better"

188 is not lot low at all, in fact I'd say thats pretty average. You need to remember here on Honda-tech people are super dyno queens. Everyone has stock 400whp B-series and everyone has a 275whp D-series.

Get uberdata, buy a laptop, buy a wideband and learn all you can about tuning.

looks to me that u have some sort of boost or exhaust leak. there is now way it should take to 6000+rpm to hit 10psi with that turbo on a stock d series. should be more like 5000rpm. just my $.02

Jeff,
You're damn right on that one man. I guess that's why I was expecting more out of my car. I mean I am pretty satisfied to know that I have ebat so many people with these numbers, it just sucks tosee that I didn't hit 200hp that's all, but I guess when I hit 200hp it will feel even better. My friend just made a very good point to me via AIM:

He asked if I had anything to control timing according to map/rpm, and I said no, he said you're losing power. My motor has got a static timing of 16btdc and I believe the shop has it set at 11btdc so I am my timing retarded when it doesn't need to be so i'm losing power right off the get go. I think that by getting uberdata I will be able to get the lost power back, what do you guys think?

Anyone want to trade my green 7.25 psi spring for the red 5.25 psi spring?

Everyone has been a great help!

something I don't seem to understand is this. people on the D Series forum are nmaking more power and trq then nme with practically the same setup and smaller turbos. We got sleeper making 220whp 204wtq with a greddy 15g I beleive @ 11psi running the vafc hack, so I think maybe something is just not right with my setup. What do you guys think?

Could it be timing, and running to rich? I can't see how that would kill my trq by 30-50ft lbs and my hp by 20-40hp.

Would you guys suggest me maybe leaning it out a little more, changing my timing, or should I ditch the .63 a/r hot side for a .48 a/r hot side?
