There are just many more options to using one of the standalones that UD doenst have that the pros need (anti-lag, boost controlled by ECU, more sensor logging, Nitrous control, traction control).

I believe the Motec comes with its own sensors as well replacing all your factory ones. This enables them to calibrate everything in-house and make it very accurate.

Plus they can runner larger MAP sensors (upto 5 BAR I believe)

Uberdata is newer as well...there are a couple 400+ street setups I've seen posted running UD.

Seems logic... i also don't want to say that uberdata sucks... its a cheap and good solution... i was only interested in the reason why some ppl go with motec or the other stuff... because the price differenct is very huge in my eyes...

Standalones will give you more control of correction maps and they're a little more convenient b/c you don't have to burn a chip to make a permanent change or have extra wiring and components in the car to make real-time changes. A standalone connects to the computer using a single cable for communicating back and forth with the computer.

I use motec at school on our formula car, It is MUCH more powerful, but half the features aren't needed on a honda. The nice thing about motec is all of its inputs can be programmed to run any sensor. You have digital and analog inputs on it, you wire them to whatever you want, tell motec what it is, and it makes sense of the data. It also has controllable outputs. Using all these inputs and outputs you can have it control your boost, n2o, power gauges, turn on a light, whatever you need. Also you just plug a laptop in to program it, you don't need to play around with chips or emulators. Very powerful system, however, the one we run at school was over $4000 with our educational discount

Does the AEM have input for an IAT sensor so it can correct for drastic temp changes from the weather??? I know hondata does not.

When I was at SEMA, I stopped by the LINK booth. They have a pretty neat plug and play board for OBD1 honda ECUs. Basically you take the stock board out, screw this one back in the casing and then plug up the factory harness and connectors and go from there. Similar to the AEM but uses the stock honda ECU case.

Very neat...just not a huge following in the US I guess. They need distributors
