White smoke while warming up?
car: del sol GSR-t
Okay so my car hasnt been started for about 3 months. (I know bad) My car has been broken into 3 times in the last year.
I get it back from the shop and its smoking white while warming up. I drive the car home granny shifting the cuz it hasnt been tuned yet. After I get the car home no smoke car runs fine whitout going into boost refuse to go into boost
oil is still purple
coolant is green
no sign of mixing. The shop says it needs a new head gasket but Im thinking that my return line sinse it is not completly straight up and down that its causing the smoke but isnt oil supposed to be blue and not white.
Is this normal should I just ignore it I will still do my pre flight checks or drive checks
this is my first turbo build
Im taking the car to Shawn Church soon I dont wanna drive out there and then be told my headgasket or something is bad and then be S.O.L.

Re: White smoke while warming up?
white smoke is water/coolant burning. If the shop says you need a new headgasket wouldnt be bad idea to change it and start the troubleshooting from there. Not even worth your time to go tune if its smoking, all youll do is cause whatever is wrong to break while pushing it on the dyno...

Re: White smoke while warming up?
well Im in San Diego I wouldnt say its exactly cold it does this in the middle of the day just not as much but like I said its just on start up and quits after that... Im thinkin I might need to re torque my headstuds because the corner of my block is leakin a little around the headgasket that might be the problem but peolpe say I shouldnt need to re torque theARP's

to the OP. It might just be because it's been sitting there for a while. a buddy of mine had the same problem after he left his gsr sitting in his garage. How long has it been doing this?

lol yeah WTF was that post all about??? just for a couple of days ....Ive been woring on it for about a year now ever sinse the broke into it they ripped out my VAFC and ECU and radio and messed up the wiring harness but Ive been starting it up just to cycle the fluids at least once or twice a month. I took it out yesterday to RiteAid it drives fine when not in boost when I get to almost zero It feel slike it wants to launch like a jet but Im not going into boost till it gets tuned. No smoke while driving just unburnt fuel smell

Re: White smoke while warming up?
dammnit I drove my car to my friends house with my roomate following behind she says it smokes when I get on the throttle not a lot and it smells like something burning. I asked if it smelled like jet fuel sinse she smells that all day at work and she said no so I assumed it was oil. Now my question is if I go get my car tuned wil they tune it so I can just drive it with boost. Obviously I dont want to push the envelope because I will prolly blow a headgasket. But Im trying to figure out if its because of the headgasket or the return line how do tell the difference?
What other problems could be burning oil the rings and compression are good the motor is brand new. The turbo has no play no leaks.

Re: White smoke while warming up?
I forget the size I bought the kit from a company on here normal siz ethough for a t3/t4
the return line is kinda skechy because its srtaight down until the pan then flat so I know oil sits in the line during shut down. But why would it burn oil from the return line.. sorr I like stuff to be explained

ok so you said you saw coolant leaking from your head, yet you dont just get a new HG, you just want to tighten a bolt?
