Well I velcroed a shiftlight in my car once and the sun melted the glue away so it kept on sliding off. But I think that's how Im going to mount the monitor anyways! 
I dont think it's going to be directly in the sun like the shift light was. By the way, if you use velcro and want to remove it later on, the glue is a bitch to get off.

I just velcro'd mines on top of the dash and throw it in the glove box when I don't want it to be seen.

I epoxied ABS plastic over the little plastic "cubby hole" that apparently is on the dash of a 92 civic vx. Then I stuck the velcro to the epoxy, so I don't need to get the glue off... I just need a new plastic "cubby hole" thing hehe.
