it's important to have one of the two when u're boosted. If you're wondering which is more accurate...it depends. A wideband o2 is damn accurate and damn expensive. An egt is cheaper than a wideband, and has a pretty good ability to tell leaness/richness. The cheap autometers are better than nothing, and do the job fine in terms of telling you if u're generally rich/generally lean....good for monitoring, not the best for fine tuning. I'd always fine tune on a wideband o2 gauge or the dyno's wideband o2.

An EGT gauge and standard O2 a/f gauge are just warning devices. Neither can be used for tuning. You tune your car properly with a wideband a/f sensor and use the EGT or a/f gauge only as a warning device in case something goes wrong.
If I was limited to one I'd go with the EGT gauge.
