Erick's Racing 10 second 268 hp run (with video)
Ok, it is not boosted, but I know everone here likes a good video.
This dyno graph shows that a well built and tuned high output engine can still have a broad power curve. When racing a shift point of 10,500 rpm is used, but the engine has seen over 11,000 rpm on a number of occasions.
Erick's best time is 10.71 @ 123 mph at Sacramento on 7 Oct. He uses a Hondata stage 2 ($345)on a P72 ECU.
This car sounds awesome at 10,000 - 11,000 rpm. Check out the videos at http://www.hondata.com/

Doug, this car put down 268 whp and it ran 10.7? Wow, I am impressed. What are the specs on his car? Weight, motor, etc?

Re: Erick's Racing 10 second 268 hp run (VTC_CiViC)
The ignition system is stock. The Vortech supercharged Civic that ran 183 mph at Bonneville salt flats also ran a stock ignition system.
So as you can see the stock system is better than most people think.
Weight is 1550-1625 depending on the event. And yes it does run a stage 4 - although that makes no difference in power. Erick's turbo GSR runs a stage 2 and he tunes it with the stage 4.

Re: Erick's Racing 10 second 268 hp run (Mikex25)
I disagree with that statement. Take two identical weight cars, with equal traction, and have them built to produce the same hp with the same displacement. Line them up for a race - who's gonna win? Boosted, because boost makes more torque. The reason this car is so fast is not because it's making obscene amounts of power - its not - but because it's geared well, and extremely light.

To add to your statement John, a turbo will have more torque on the top end where NA would drop off. And having torque on top end is what its all about.

Re: Erick's Racing 10 second 268 hp run (dbman96)
looks to me liek he ended up in 5th gear
11,000 RPM redline would certainly cut down the number of shifts you need to make in the quarter.

Re: Erick's Racing 10 second 268 hp run (BLK94RS)
On the first Bonneville run the car did a maximum of 172 mph and average of about 165 mph. A month or two later the car went back and averaged 183 mph.
Would you like me to post a video of that run?
