let us know what the problem ends up being.. i have a very similar wastegate dump setup, and would be interested in knowing if that is the problem.

I will have a spare y8 head after this, but i'm going to keep it just incase this z6head/y8block combo doesn't work out to well. A guy told me today that he had a y7block/z6head combo and had oil delivery problems and burned up two heads

Well good luck with that. I'll give you a call sometime at the end of this week/weekend to see when we can do it.

the Y7 is nonvtec right? if so, he didnt take out the oil control jet. I'm going by the old school A6/z6 - y8 minime swap info. they always mentioned taking out the oil control jet to help facilitate proper oil pressure for the new vtec component.

No not yet, I'm still waiting on the wastegate to come in(it was on backorder and they didn't tell me ) But I replaced the coil with a new one, it pulls a little better but I haven't really gotten on it to hard. Once the wastegate comes in and I put that in, hopefully I can get on it and feel the difference. If not I guess we are going to make sure the timing belt didn't jump any teeth. That's all the ideas so far.

I WILL UPDATE WHEN WE FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM.

Sorry to anyone who needs the info because their car is doing the same thing, but the damn wastegate was on backorder.

so after replacing the coil, does it still misfire up top?

man i had a similar problem w/ my h22 i had a f-max kit w/ the stupid dumptube was like 1 in and then back into the dp. on 6 psi i only made 180whp..and my graph was all shitty like yours w/ power falling off after vtec...so i dropped my plug gap down to .018 and chnaged to a new rotor and upgraded the ignition to msd 6 box w/ a ssblaster coil and 8mm wires then i had a custom dumptube made that is open loop and i am still using that shitty fmax log manifold and a even small dp then you mine is 2.25in and jeff evans managed to pull 380whp outta my setup w/ around 19degrees total timing..

here is the dyno:

Yea my dumptube setup is questionable,

But Anthony(who fabricated my kit) said he has seen it done like that many times. I dunno.

But almost all of my ignition is brand new, new coil, wires, plugs and rotor. I'm on about 10 pounds at .028 gap I think. Does that sound about right?

And I was on 10 psi and made only 190.

But everything has smoothed out, it's not just that I don't make any power.

yeah dude, i'm starting to think that could be a problem, my dumptube is very similar and i'm having a similar problem. I have stock ignition, but my dyno graph isnt really choppy. although i guess i'm not sure on teh smoothing factor for mine.

Yea I'm thinking of calling Antony and asking him to make me a new dumptube setup to see if it yields any power gains. And if it does create more power than I won't pay him, but if there is no effect I will pay him. Something like that.

what is your exhaust setup??? are you running a cat??

my h22 was acting all goofy..so goofy that when we tried to turn up the boost we lost power
the engine was choking out after 4250, i'm not sure what the exact cause was, but i do know this to be a fact that when we put the wastegate open loop we gained like 100whp and like 80lbft.
... after i made these changes it seemed to respond really well..

also note that we disabled the secondaries and vtec was set to 5500

VTEC is set at 52-5500 on mine also.

The exhaust is 3" kteller piping, kteller high flow cat, and magnaflow muffler.

Open loop? Never heard it reffered to like that before? You mean like open dumptube? Because I have seen gains of up to 40whp from switching from dumping back into the downpipe, to an open dumptube setup.

how close to the turbo was your dump tube dumping? I suspect that this is his problem because he sais that when he has switched to open loop it ran drastically different. His is actually dumping a few inches off of the turbo outlet. Its super close.

Hey Matt, I'm getting the wastegate in on Wednesday and putting it on. Can we tune/check timing belt Friday?

i don't think my laptop will be back by then. One of my mom's coworkers is using it while they are out of town on business. We can maybe check your timing belt though. I'm pretty damn sure thats not the problem though. I think if your timing belt was off a tooth your car would feel like a complete turd even out of boost.

test the coil theory first before you change anyhting else. that way you know for sure what worked and what didnt. i guess your waiting for your WG first huh. slap it on and tell us if it feels any better.
