what every single parts do I need?
I've just received my pistons yesterday (ROSS 99807) and I'm going to get them installed during the weekend.
this is the only modification I will do onthe internals btw. They are 81.5mm bore so I will bore out the sleeves accordingly. So basically I know that I will need:
- headgasket
- exhaust gasket (not sure)
-what else??????????
it's a 99 LS engine, should I change the crank bearing?, water pump?
thanks alot

dude, search, do whats neccessary or proper. if you car is out for the count for pistons, and the oil pan is off, jus replace the rod bearings, if the engine has been raced or reamed on and high miles, sure replace the rod bearingS, water pump is easy and cheap, so yes, repalce that and a Timing belt while your at it. Yes always use a new exhasut manifold gasket
in your sit, with a 99LS id say your cranks bearings are fine, just go ahead and do the rod bearings if needed, look for etching and wear past the shiny silverish top layer of each bearing

Re: (Cruiser G)
I know but my compression was really bad, so I've decided to start from zero,, that's why I'm going .5mm over and I got those new pistons, I want my setup to be reliable, I'm not expecting to make 300hp,,, 200hp or so for me is plenty enough.
Will I need all those misc parts:
-pan gasket
-valve cover gasket
-2 crank seal
-water pump
-timing belt
-intake gasket
-head gasket
-exhaust gasket
-tensionner bolt
-rod bearing
Am I missing something or is there any part in the list that I don't really need????????????
please answer me ASAP
thanks again for your great help guys

like I said the motor is a 1999, so bearings should be good, the engine has roughly 70 000 KM (not miles, I'm in canada )
How much for all those parts approximatly?

Re: (birz)
well you could have just re-ringed your stock motor, instead of spending money on new pistons...Its kinda dumb to do all that work then not rebuild the entire engine....A simple cheap rebuild would be rings and rod bearings and you would just need to bottle brush the cylinders to clean them up....It would have sealed up just fine......I would think a new oil pump also and maybe rod bolts, I heard you can only use stock rod bolts once because they stretch and can fail easily.......Kind of a fail safe situation, no sense in spending the money and have something fail as in a bolt and have to rebuild again.....Your like almost going all the way to a full build, all you need to do is get a set of rods and main bearings and some extra machining and you would have a fully built motor, cause you say i only want 200hp but im tellin ya when you reach that you will want more.....I wanted a 200 whp crx i have one and now im shooting for 300hp....its addicting, trust me...and as close as you are to a full build i would just take that extra step and just do it...you can get eagles for 350 bucks and main bearings would run you like another 50-75 from clevite....You will have to have the pistons put on rods so that cost wont change and if you get new rod bolts you will have to get the rods machined so u might as well just spend an additional 350 and just get'r done! It just makes sense if you ask me.....

gasket kit (inlcudes everything needed to rebult for bottom end) is ~$50..
headgasket should be around $60
theres also a kit for top end (should include headgasket and valve seals) $150? - i'm not too sure on that one..
price on bearings 150-200 depending on where you get them - that should be crank, rod bearings..
you gotta contact someone that sells parts for more accurate pricing..
don't go cheap on this, everything is a wear item, since you're pulling it apart, its bets to simply replace.

ok guys you had convinced me
I went with the Eagle H-beam rods
So now I can say that my engine is fully built,,, the only remaining stock part is the sleeves,,, but this I couldn't afford it.
Can't wait to dyno it. Next year I'll probably switch for a bigger turbo
