what does 38mm of the (wastegate) mean ?

Default what does 38mm of the (wastegate) mean ?

hey i have a quick question maybe someone could answer... the diff of a 38mm,40mm... 44mm wastegate is the port of the inlet of the wastegate? or what? i don't know much about turbos and how do you know what MM you need for your set-up? thanks

diameter of the valve.

street apps probably like a 38mm
race applications 44-46mm

really depends on your combo...so watcha gotZ?

well just got my GSR head and a LS longblock and the car this is my future set-up
ls/vtec
springs,retainers ferrea
blox intake manifold
blox exhaust manifold
turbonetics delta wastegate
t3-t04e
dsm injectors
n-1 crank pully
clutch
and all the other little **** better fuel pump..boost controller .....etc
its going in a 88 crx. i don't know what EM i'm going to use either crome or hondata convert it to obd 1..my old crx was all motor.

ls/vtec
ctr cams
b16 head milled
jdm itr header
ls block
itr rods
jdm itr pistons
itr crank
itr flywheel
str blockgaurd
93 gsr tranny
all motor is cool but i've never done a turbo set-up so its next i just want a streetable 300hp crx

I prefer the tial gates. Like a 38mm tial would work well

the only thing to me is i've found the delta waste gates for like $150 i have not seen any tial gates near that..i'm not trying to be cheap but how is tial better? better quality? or what? has anyone had problems with the delta?

thru my experience, cant speak for others. The tial gates hold pressure and dont leak from the control port . If they do its because there is a problem with the diaphram. The Delta gates , that I and others I know have used leak normally which makes it hard when your trying to control boost using the control side of the gate. Just my opinion. Ultimately boost pressure is controlled by the wategate so I want the best gate possible for this reason.

gt35r, 1.3 liter motor, 46mm tial gate. We manufacture boost controllers and well as custom turbocharging.

yes if you like your motor dont use that crank pulley a stock one will work fine or a fluidamper or ati damper

thats serious i have heard of that happing with aftermarket pulley's for the same reason but i figured if it was honda it wouldn't have that problem...thanks for the info thats off the list now for sure don't want my motor to blow up over that little ****.
