What do you guys think of the SC50 on a d16?
I have the apexi ball bearing kit on my 00 ex coupe right now. It made 176/173 whp on 8 psi and i'm wanting to upgrade to something bigger. What do you guys think of the precision SC50 and a revhard manifold? Is this turbo entirely too big for my setup? Also is the SC50 the smallest precision turbo available? I heard someone on the board was running 12's on this turbo with a stock d16 motor.
Any suggestions/comments are welcome, thanks!

Thanks bro!
Actually i am using a .60 trim T04E with a .63 exhaust side.
I think with the SC50 you will make good power also.

Re: What do you guys think of the SC50 on a d16? (TurbodCX)
What are the spool times like? I'm only going to run about 6-8 psi on the AFC hack temporarily till i can put together a built motor and run hondata or try the uberchip setup. What kind of power can be expected and do you think the AFC hack won't be sufficient for the boost levels i'm looking for?
I made 176/173 on the APEXi kit with the IHI P18 turbo (about the size of a 16G but ball bearing)
Thanks for the advice, You're my sohc turbo hero

How did you run 16 pounds on a stock internal D16Z6? Is that just with a blockguard and a thicker headgasket or something? I'd be more than happy to make 220 whp with the SC50, which manifold did you guys run on the SOHC with your SC50's and where can i get the manifold/downpipe?
If i'm not mistaken the SC50 is the smallest precision turbo, would the SC34 be too big for street driving on low boost?

I have the SC34, i think you'll have killer top end. you'll be a little laggy but nothing to big to worry about. Just learn where your strong points are.

all i changed on teh motor was the headgasket (2mm greddy) and arp head studs, hte motor was very very old also 160k+ of pretty hard driving. i used the drag mani and didnt have to cut anything other than the stock fan shroud.

Did it ever blow up on that much boost? What fuel setup do you have and what did you tune it with? I'd be very happy to run a bar with a thicker headgasket/blockguard/head studs, you think that's possible?

Re: What do you guys think of the SC50 on a d16? (jazz215)
I dynoed those #'s on 8 psi with a clogged up stock cat (I had nitrous and ran really rich shooting fireballs which melted my cat) Put a test pipe on now and topend feels 25% better.
Just sold my APEXi kit time to go SC50....anyone think i should go SC32 instead?

motor gave way because of a warped head wich dropped water into cyl3 at top end at the track....
DIRep972- i use drag mani but since there are so many out now that its more of a whats cheapest type thing

I have a Maxrev manifold. You can see the car here. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=520599 for more info.

Re: What do you guys think of the SC50 on a d16? (TurbodCX)
I ended up ordering the SC50 with the .48/.60 from art today along with a tubular 1010 heat treated steel manifold from south florida performance for 450, it looks really nice and i've heard nothing but good things about them. They have 3 yr warranty and the flange for the wg is in the center instead of just on 1 runner. Also picked up their mild steel 2.5" downpipe for 170, i think it was 637 shipped for both items.
I'm excited, should be a fun setup one day i hope to be able to sport the "sohc-T owns DOHC" line in my sig like turbodcx
thanks for all the advice guys.

I am using a SC50 with the .63 turbine on my ZC.
It pulled ******* hard!......Until my oil pressure suddenly went to ****, and i threw a rod.
Did I mention I hate cars?

Re: (Bryson)
What were your spool times like on the .63? I opted to go .48/60 on my SC50 also how much boost were you running and why did you lose oil pressure?
