Hey, newbie question here. What determines max boost? After I rebuild my engine, should i just turn up the boost .1 bar at a time and listen for detonation? Before the rebuild I never had it past 8psi for fear of the rods not holding up.

 

your first concern is having enough fuel and the proper tuning. with that even some stock motors can go very far. if you don't tune properly, you can easily ruin a hefty rebuild. after that i would say weak links would be in this order: pistons, rods, sleeves...

so considering you have a rebuild, it would depend mostly on your fuel/tuning system. after that your turbo and it's effiency woud be the next limiting factor...

can you be more specific as to what you have?
