D16 turbo
Depends on how much you wanna boost. You can run lower boost on a stock d series engine an be fine, or you can upgrade the rods, and pistons and turn the boost up.
"Turn the boost up" is a bad way to put it. For new people, that's merely going to blur the line between boost pressure and power creation.
OP: read the FAQ at the top of the FI forum. It will answer a lot of the questions you may have. The short and sweet answer is that your stock D, with the right parts and a good tune, will be safe in the 220-240whp range on pump gas**.
