what can my this engine handle?
how mutch nitrous can i shoot in this engine if i decide to build it.
It will be:
d16y8 or d16z6
Toyota supra 1G-GTE pistons
Toyota supra 1G-GTE rings
with LS (b16A) shoot peened rods
i have a P&P head and a d16y8 head gasket. the pistons are lower compression pistons, because the come out of a twin turbo V6. (not shure on the exact CR)
i know that this engine can handle 15-18 psi of boost, but i already have the nitrous system on my car shoot 55-75 at the track. but i am going to end up blowing my dinky little d15 soon and want to start bulding my budget d16. thanks for the help.
How mutch nitrous would i be able to shoot? do you think i could get it up to 150 after i break in the motor with smaller shoots?

very doubtful, it would be stretching it with 15-18psi, let alone a 150 shot.... also possible boost depends on the size of the turbo, yes you could run 15-18 psi on a 14b, but say you tried it on a sc63, boom. you need to list more specifics about your engine. 150 is a lot of nitrous, youd need a damn good fuel system and managment system to do it..... switch the engine, put the new pistons and rods in and get some new fuel system components and tune it for the nitrous

Re: (Civic420)
i have an Fields SFC V-tec and fuel controller to boost my fuel, i have 400cc injectors, a holly fuel pump, a bored out fuel rail, and a high flow filter, and i will be ordering the coldest plugs i can find. what can i safly shoot? 125?
oh and two more things.
1. the pistons have a 9.1:1 CR
2. i will be putting a block gaurd in with bigger holes for coolant to flow through.

Re: (bluedelsol)
from what i get so far you will be using only N2O with your built D16 block, which includes the Supra piston/ring set with LS rods. BTW the B16A rods are 3mm shorter in length than the B18B/LS rods, so you can only use the 137mm LS rods.
the pistons and rods should handle 100-150 shot for awhile if there isn't any detonation. i'm more concerned about the stock sleeves handling the abuse. stock B series sleeves can handle 100-150 shot with just rods and pistons. but i'm not sure of the strength of the D series sleeves. i'm sure they will handle 100 shot direct port for some time, but i don't know how they will handle it in the long run.
use a direct port system with 80-100 shot jets, an aftermarket ignition system and a fuel pump. that should give you good power with the right timing settings. if everything seems good then i guess it's up to you if you want to go for 125-150 shot. 150 shot may be pushing it a little but i've never used N2O on a D16 or D15 sso i can't say for sure.
