dont worry about the valvetrain, the head should be fine.

Worry about pistons, rods. Maybe studs, I've heard of head lift or something on d series, althought i could be incorrect, I dont know anythingabout d series engines.

Does your 1k budget include parts and engine work? Boring and honing may cost a chunk of that, then witht he price of the pistons and rods, you may go over that 1000 dollar budget.

assembly might cost you around $700 (that’s being bore/hone, hot tank and installing pistons and rods and specking bearings) But check your local machine shops to see what they say. And yes you should invest in headstuds.

Yeah actually I have a cousin doin it for like half the price of any machine shop, I mean the labor of installin the pistons and what not, but he wont be able to do the actual bore and what not, what bore do ya'll reccommend, .20 or .50?

id go with .20 over, unless you have something wrong and need to go further.
