Went to the dyno - 00 Turbo Si - Need some help
Ok, heres my setup:
99 Stock si b16a2
Turbonetics T3/T4e 50 trim
DSM 450cc injectors with a VAFC
Intercooled
I know my timing is retarded at the distributor - Timing gun is out of commission, but i will get a new one and check it today.
Car is boosting 6.5psi right now.
My static fuel pressure is roughly 41-42psi. When I punch it, it goes to about 50-52psi
Setting on the VAFC are:
1K -38
2K -37
3K -36
4K -36
5K -35
6K -34
7K -33
Plugs electrodes are whiteish. I went to the dyno at the Import Truck bash this weekend and got it up there. Here are the charts
How much should I richen it up after say 4K RPMs? Also is it better to richen it up on the AFC, or use my FPR to bump up the psi a few. Or both? I just need to do this someone safely until this winter, when I go OBDI and standalone. Please help.

146whp @ 6.5 psi?? And unless I see something wrong, is that sub 10:1 A/F I see??
You must go through gas like underware.

Yeah....that is what I am trying to figure out where the curve goes.

Re: Went to the dyno - 00 Turbo Si - Need some help (si_mekanik)
you want tune tune just with your afc. dont touch the fuel pressure you should be using your stock fpr. your air/fuel chart looks to be way to rich!! you want to be at 12.5:1. You should make no less than 200 whp, there are many people on here who are running the same set up as you (vafc hack) making over 250 whp including myself (259). do you have a fuel pump??? Also you dont have a vortech 12:1 on there or anything like that do you?

Re: Went to the dyno - 00 Turbo Si - Need some help (si_mekanik)
Adjust the afc, lean it out in small increments. Once you get in the neighborhood of 12:1, shoot for a straight line for the fuel curve. The afc's are fairly tricky to get a perfect fuel curve if you dont have experience with them beforehand, just take your time.

Re: Went to the dyno - 00 Turbo Si - Need some help (boosted hybrid)
I do not have a fuel pump currently. No FMU or anything.
Geez I thought it was backwards..... the lower the AF ratio, the richer I am? So Im running too rich?
I thought I was running too lean? I recently cracked a ringland in piston number 3 (why is that usually the one to go first anyway?) with my smaller T3 turbo with 9psi. So i replaced the piston, and the turbo had shaft play, so I put in a new T3/T4. And my previous settings were 38-37 across the board. Now in the higher RPMs I go from 38-37-36-35-34-33 (increasing fuel).
I am confused. I remember when the guy was Dynoing my car, the bar on the bottom of the monitor was something like this:
Yeah Gas mileage was kinda poopy on the way back. I can usually get 300+ miles on a full tank. But after I saw that dyno run of mine, i bumped up fuel pressure by about 2psi, and on the AFC i set the correction around -29 -31 in the upper RPMs (6.5K-8Kish)

Well.. that's not what the A/F charts you posted are showing. Maybe you just remember it backwards?

Re: Went to the dyno - 00 Turbo Si - Need some help (VTC_CiViC)
Hmm.... there was a Volkswagon that had a run before me.....his dynorun was still on the computer....and then i made my pull, and then his just moved (up or down i can't remember).
I thought his figures were mine at first. He had like 160hp and 165 torque......thats not me????
I don't think the guy gave me the wrong charts. So Im running way too rich? Can running way too rich cause cracked ringlands? Also, these have to be my charts, because when the second pull came up, those 2 figures were there.

I'm not sure what to tell you. You're the one who needs to know whether or not those charts are correct.... though I have my doubts because 146whp for a B16 on 6.5psi is awfully low.
BTW, detonation cracks ringlands.

Re: Went to the dyno - 00 Turbo Si - Need some help (si_mekanik)
if it makes you feel better I am running 7psi on my b16 CRX and have pretty much the same turbo setup you have
my A/F was 13 to 1 till boost then its 12.5 to 1(on the same dyno)
My car is smoking at idle some I think I have bad valve seals.
I made 153hp and 140 tq
it was about 100 degrees outside too
my A/f is a little lean but not too much gonna give some more fuel to pre-vtec but I wish I knew what was up. Maybe it was the dyno
Any ideas? timing too retarted?

Re: Went to the dyno - 00 Turbo Si - Need some help (88crxvtec)
you really need to get that thing tuned better.
first of all, start out by getting a walbro 255lph intank fuel pump
then, get a vafc, 440cc injectors, STOCK FPR. dont touch the ******* thing
go to dropshop.com and start a basemap of what your settings should be. i could give you mine. i made 244whp at 7.8psi
make sure throttle is at 72/73 my vtec is at 4900/5000 a/f 12.5

Re: Went to the dyno - 00 Turbo Si - Need some help (94goldjungsr)
Wow... When I dynoed my car I was running CRAZY rich over 4000rpm. So rich the hp would stop going and actualy go down as the rev move up. The wideband was reading 10.0 all the way. And huge cloud of black smoke was comming out of my exhaust . I still managed 188whp @ 7psi with that fuel setting.
Then I leaned it out and did ~230whp.
you need tunning ...and do a compression and leak down test. Something is wrong. **** I did 142whp with my B16A2 with an AEM CAI.

lower your fuel pressure, its supposed to be ~42psi with the vaccum hose off. yours is 10psi too high.

Car was still running 14.4@98MPH even running that rich.
Car was leaned out some, and power is much better now.
But im in the process of standalone and Wideband o2 sensor. So all is good.
