I need help tuning my v-afc without a dyno. Does anyone out there have a b18c1 or similar block that has a t3/t4 (drag kit) 450cc DSM injectors, walbro 255 high pressure fuel pump, and 2.5 inch exhaust all the way back off the turbo? I am currently running 10psi. I lean out at about 5400 rpm, right before v-tec engauges. I was just curious to know if anyone with a similar setup could post their settings on a v-afc. Thanks and please dont tell me to get it dyno tuned. I will when it is running good enough to get it 135 miles to Illionois from Wisc.

what do u have the high cam fuel correction set to? -35 would be pretty rich before throwing a cell at about 10.5-11psi.

How do you know you are leaning out without proper A/F readings?

i have a autometer a/f gauge that says i am leaning out and the car bogs down when hitting v-tec but i am assuming that i could just be running to rich considering how deadly accurate the gauges are. My high cam is set at -27. If anything i am runnning way to rich when v-tec kicks in. My tuning up to v-tec seems right but a bit rought when downshifting. let me know what setting should be if you have similar experience and insight. thanks

1st off, I hope you're not relying on the Autometer A/F gauge for your a/f mixture as it doesn't tell you precisely how rich or lean you are running at all. If it indicates in the lean LED range then you're already in serious trouble.

-27 trim is too rich for 440cc. You should be closer to -40% which explains why the car bogs down on the high cam.

I'm using 500cc and my settings are like -48 to -45 from 1krpm to 8.5krpm. It seems to run pretty good so far.

Get a wideband o2, thats the best way to tune without the aid of a dyno. Evan though the most helpfull thing on the dyno just happens to be the wideband o2...

I paid 400 for mine, there not as expensive as you might think.

i live in rhode island and i know this 1 dyno and he tunes mustangs, i doubt he can tune a vafc... how do i tune this afc by myself @ a dyno. any tuners out there??

Bogging is generally due to being to rich. As far as tuning goes, make a pull, then look at your air/fuel ratio readings and make adjustments accordingly. oh and the air/fuel ratio gauge is pointless

Make it simple on your self and safe for your car. If it is bogging, it is rich, drive it like an old vw bus to the dyno and go from there.
these are my settings
3 -53%
4 -51%
5 -49%
6 -47%
7 -45%
and the 500's are in between
you should be at about 5% less all through out the rpms.

Do you really have to hit VTEC on your 135 mile drive? I know its hard but just try and not floor it on the way there.
