Which wastegate spring to run with electronic boost controller
I am almost done with my build and have a little dilemma that i am unsure of. I am running a precision sc6176e on my built block and want to run about 500whp. (i have all supporting mods for this goal).
I have two wastegate springs for my tial 44mm. I have a small green which is 6lbs and a large blue which is 13lbs. Now will i be able to run the 6lb spring and be able to turn up the boost to lets say 20+lbs? If so that would be great because i dont want to run the 13lb spring and that being the lowest psi i could run. What do you guys think??
hopefully i got my point across

usually the rule of thumb is w/ a boost controller you can run 2x the spring rate
for ex...6 psi spring = 12-14psi on a controller
in your case if be lookin for a 8-9psi spring...so u can run 8-9 wg'd and then run 20ish on the controller

You can pretty much double spring rates. And with a good electronic boost controller like the apexi AVCR, etc it will usually maintain boost consistency pretty well. If I were you I'd just rock a 8lb spring for street and track. Unless you've got a all out drag car, a 8lb spring is pretty much best of everything haha

well i have a aem tru boost ebc, so wil that be able to boost more than 2x the spring rate? I just dont want to run 13lbs on the street with the sc61 at all times i would like to run like 350 -400 on the street with pump and 460-500+ on race at the track....
