wastegate question

Default wastegate question

hey guys i got a wastegate off ebay and well im gonna put it on its a external wastegate and well it has to plugs on it well i have a vacuum manifold that runs off my brake booster and well the line im gonna run to the wastegate im just wondering what port i should put the line on either on top or the botton thanks

Bottom port only. Run the vac line from manifold. You can leave the top fitting out too. You really only need the top if you are using a boost controller.

Ha. Thanks. Was going to mention compressor housing but some turbos (cheap ones) dont have a location drilled for one. So, manifold would work if dont want to drill.

well my turbo dosnt have a port on the compresser housing so is it cool if i just leave it running off of my vacuum manifold to the bottom port on the wastegate then

That would be fine. But make sure you use a DEDICATED vac line and not one that has been Td off to other things.

It will work but technically the wastegate should not see vaccuum, could damage the diaphragm.

It will work just isnt the best way to do it since he has no tap on housing. Would be better and prefered on housing though.

you can do it off the brake booster line. what i did on my setup is run a vac block off the booster line since its a big line, lots of volume, i then t'd off all connections i needed like map sensor, fpr, bov and wg. if your worried about the wg seeing vac, you can put an inline check valve so it doesnt see vac. kind of like the brake booster line. theres an oem check valve in there.
