Default Wastegate Question

I had a 3 inch exhaust made and the guy who made it put the dump tube back in the exhaust pipe but he drilled a half-inch hole for the gases from the wastegate to flow thru and just welded the dump tube over the hole. Its a Tial 38mm with a 10.5 spring. A half-inch hole isnt big enough for gases to flow through? My car was over boosting dramaticlly, and thats cause the hole wasnt big enough right?

Default Re: Wastegate Question (jfoster)

Thanks just wanted to check my knowledge, I tried to convince him to cut the hole the size of the pipe but he said it was plenty of room for the CFM's for that to flow, I said, its not an N/A car, turbo is different, its pushing the air out, not flow freely out.
