Default Dump tube

I am not clear on what exactly a dump tube is. To my understanding its what the wastegate empties in to? If anyone could clarify that would be great, thanks.

Correct sir, it just goes from an external wastegate. Some people re-route them back into the exhaust or downpipe, but this causes a minimal loss in back pressure so most just have the pipe vent to the ground.

A dump tube for a waste gate is simply an exit path for exhaust gases exiting the wastegate. Its an exhaust pipe for your wastegate. Normally when people say dump tube they mean a tube which does not go back into the cars exhaust, but has its own exit. It can however be re-routed back into exhaust.
