Default Very qucik wastegate question?

Im just tinkering with the style one. the exhaust is all hooked up and the open dump tube is there. when I start the car half the exhaust is going out that pipe LOUD.

the wg lets out EXCESS boost. So is it broken or what can cause that?

my trial and error check is to put on the tial and see but I havent got there I want to more or less understand why its doing that?

the line goes to the intercooler pipe about 1 foot away from the turbo housing exit.

im not driving the car, only moving it in and out of the shop, nothing strange about how it runs on the stock tune idling around at all

lmk

So quick you mispelled the title! Haha, um, do you know what size spring is in there? Either that or maybe the vacuum line isn't hooked up right? Someone else should be along to help you out, I'm still learning myself.

That id like to know, if the line was off would that by pass it and flow a lot of exhaust out the dump? im not trying to mess around too much its not like this stuff is free LOL.

the spring is a guesstimate, the guy who sold me the tial swore it had a 10lb. its much stiffer i think the ebay one is about 6psi (on the car right now)

pull off the wastegate and make sure the fire ring is there on the bottom

Sounds like the wastegate isn't closed all the way. What spring do you have in there?

I would run the wastegate line off of the compressor housing if it has the port for it, and the boost controller inline obviously.

I don't know why this came out so small, but this is a quick paintshop drawing I made to show you how you should run the vacuum to the wastegate, cause it sounds like you ran it weird.

The thin red lines are vacuum lines, the blue circles are the bov and wastegate, the little black star is the manual boost controller.

In the line running from the intake manifold to the BOV, insert a T-piece, run a line off of that to your manual boost controller, from the controller, run a line directly to the wastegate.

Show the bottom of the gate itself. I know its a dark shadow, but i don't see a fire ring in there.

good ****, right now the BOV is T'd with a plastic fitting off of the b&m FPR.

is that still going to pull enough vac if I T the line for the blow off valve and run the lines like the pic? I am also T'ing the brake booster for the boost gauge***, which I could T in there.

basically without a vac box whats the best source to work off here?

pics are coming of the TIAL now to make sure its ok, just looking at it i see where this ring should go, I may pull the ebay one off tonight and get pics of it too

Why are you trying to use an eBay wastegate when you have a tial to use?

I really am not, its just on there right now, its got a much less stiff spring i figure its a simple enough design I should still be able to anyway.

I have the tial and the gaskets for the flanges. I dont know about the fire gasket. and wont put the tial on till everything with the custom dump and all that is completed

So im working towards that picture posted, and have the lower part of the wastegate connected to a tapped fitting on my housing ( I will block off the hole in the intercooler pipe that came with the kit)

on the right track?

looks like I need one of these ?

x2 for the fire ring missing im assuming you took pics of the tial that is not on the car. to be 100% sure the fire ring is missing you will have to remove the gate on the car.

if you just recently bought that tial though used i owuld be getting the money back for it unless the person has the fire ring for it cause without it its almost useless unless you like really slow spool up and very poor boost recovery

The ebay one and the TiAL MAY have swappable fire rings, but don't count on it.

http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/part...alve_Seat/6757

here is a pic of what you need and where it goes if there is not one in the ebay one. from the pic the tial wg looks like a 38mm and the fire ring is only $13 from horsepowerfreaks.com if you decide to buy one from them ask for kirk.

lol just looked at your link and realized its more than the ones from horsepowerfreaks lmao... whos being shafted now ordering on ebay trying to save a buck or two... looks to me like you guys are getting ripped and prob not even getting a real tial product hahaha.

I would run one solid line from the FPR to the manifold. And then one line from the manifold to the bov and t-piece from there.

Nothing to report. Call a TiAL dealer and get a fire ring for your used gate. Throw the other in the trash so that it won't circulate to other people who can't find a dumb eBay ring. Problem solved. Why make it difficult ?

this one, or very similar... I dont know all the tech terms but theres one big line, then the one for the fpr. the other two sources I dont think are useful in anyway.
