Default wastegate gasket

does anyone still use a gasket between there ex manifold and there wast-gate anymore? i have an old rev-hard log Mani and a tial 38mm waste-gate, and i keep blowing out the gasket. it's not a thin metal gasket, it's the poofy metal/cardboard type that tial supplies. think I'd be ok with out it? corky bell said you don't need one in-between the turbo and Mani, so i think I'll just remove it.

if both mating surfaces are machined well, no gasket is needed

I never use any gaskets anywhere on the turbo. works great if you surface the manifold flange first
