Default Vortech BOV problem

I have a Vortech BOV just like this one:

The problem is that as soon as I connect the Vacuum line to it when the engine is running in neutral, it OPENS WIDE immediately.

Everybody says it's not normal, but I would like your opinion because it doesn't look to me like it's malfunctioning.

While opening the throttle all the way when the car is in neutral the BOV stays equally open.

What I can't see is, does it close while I'm driving the car and boosting it properly.

as a former vortech bov owner i can confirm that the bov will be open at idle. it should close as vacuum decreased and should definitely be closed under boost. if it wasnt closing under boost then you would have a major boost leak. also you can adjust the bov by loosening the jam nut and using an allen wrench to tighten the adjustment screw. make sure the adjuster doesnt go lower than 1/8" from the top of the jam nut

here's a link to the instructions, see #6

By Idle you mean not opening the throttle while the car is in neutral?

Anyway, I've tried boosting the car in neutral but nothing moves in the BOV.

I know all about adjusting it, but if the BOV is fully open, adjusting just won't do! :/

lol, yes generally idling would mean the engine is running, the car is a stop and your foot isnt on the gas

your car will not build boost while in neutral. does the bov work properly when driving? does it blow off clean? are you experiencing any boost leaks?

IMO, if the car is running properly and the BOV is working then you are fine and don't need to worry about it.
