Default Valve lash (consequences)

i recently began to get valve lash on my 97 ls motor, 1 month after going turbo. the noise was minor for a while, but it soon got louder. what will happen eventually? is my engine worn out?

eventually it will wear out the valve stem tips, and the rockers.

if it is a little tight, it will probably burn valves, and if it is really tight, it may coil bind. or float bad and bend.

"VALVE LASH" is the measurement of clearence not what you get when the clearance is too great

not bein an *** just explaining

no the engine isnt worn out. if too much 'lash' it will tap if too little the valve will hang open a bit and you will loose power by loosing compression since the cylinder isnt sealed

set the valve lash under 100*F and the measurements are on the hood. get a good feeler gauge and the feelers should have slight drag too them when you slide them between the camshaft and rocker arm. make sure the valve your setting that the lift on the lobe is facing up and you will be fine.

make sure and rotate engine COUNTER CLOCKWISE when turning it roundy round to move the cams

not being an ***, just explaining, but if it is too tight for too long and the valve is held open, you will yes loose compression, but the valve wont transfer heat to the head as well and burn. and if it is too loose it has been known to and will beat the **** out of the valve stem tips and and rocker tips.

so he left out the word excessive, or more than normal causing an audible sound. 2 other people knew what he meant.
