Default Vacum From Valve Cover

I tried posting this in the 92-00 section seeing this isnt really turbo related I think but seeing my B16 is F.I I thought I would give it a try

I just got done swapping out the bottom end of my b16.. New head gasket w/Arp headstuds. When the car is running there is alot of vacum from the crankcase breather port in the valve cover. Is this normal?

There shouldn't be much vacuum at all - your PCV valve is probably stuck open. Its supposed to be slightly open at idle, fully open at WOT, and closed with boost.

If it is the PCV and it is stuck open, that also means it could be pressurizing the crank case when you create boost - VERY BAD for the motor. This would be one of the few cases where a replaced PCV valve makes >10whp.

The motor has barley seen any boost since the engine was put in. Maybe a couple psi from reving but that it No load.

Thank you for your insight in what is wrong and why its secking so hard. I will replace that tomorrow and post an update.

Hiprofile you were correct to a point, There wasnt a pcv valve at all lol. My old B16 had the pcv right in the black box on the back of the engine. This one I guess was suppose to be in between the intake manifold runners...? Anyways I installed the pcv and now it runs like a champ.

Thanks you so much for you input

No PCV would definately make it run odd - basicly it'd have a huge vac leak at idle. Glad you found this out before boosting hardcore.
