Default vacf good?

I have a h22 with a garrett t3/t4 turbo. I already have a vafc, so I dont really want to get rid of it. I know hondata or uberdata would be better but money is short. Would a vafc do the job? anyone had any luck with forced induction?

it will work, but why wouldn't you go uberdata when it costs just as much.

Sell the VAFC on Ebay and use the proceeds to chip for Uberdata.

how "flexible" as far as tuning is uberdata? how hard is it to tune. I have a wide band. Will that be ok?

That's your best bet^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

With no way to retard timing under boost you will be sure to spend more money in the long run. Just a heads up. If you can get your hands on a BTM that would be the only way I would say to "safely" use the hack.

I would try to solicit for Uberdata maps from people on this forum. Seems a lot of people use it, bound to be someone who has an application similar to yours.

Many people recommend dyno tuning, but I say with a wideband and a EGT, you can tune anything.

Yah, I would not even wanna use a VAFC, especially with the free software out there.

No. There are two ways to use an AFC and two reasons why you cannot use them for a turbo safely:

1) The AFC can remove enough MAP signal to allow you to have a turbo without modifying the MAP sensor. The flaw: The ECU reads less load on the engine and advances timing. This is dangerous.

2) The AFC can allow you to add more fuel or use larger injectors by adding to or removing some of the MAP signal. Besides the above timing issues, the flaw is that the AFC is RPM-dependant, while boost from a turbo is NOT RPM-dependant.

This is intermediate algebra. There is no single "formula" that will allow you to relate two functions which are dependant on different variables. Therefore, you will run into a situation where boost comes in when you don't expect it (like passing on the highway), and the engine will go dangerously lean. This is also dangerous.

Now, an AFC along with a BTM can, IMO, be used to sucessfully tune a supercharger application, since a blower's boost IS basically RPM dependant. But that's a different thread altogether.
