well i was talking to a guy about a turbo kit, and he said that a vaccum leak caused boost spiking and it spiked to 18psi and killed the pistons....because it is internally wastegated?

will externally wastegated turbo do this with a vaccum leak???

does this story seem right?

also with a intake manifold vaccum leak cause the turbo to boost spike?

He probably meant the vacuum line going to the wastegate got a leak.
