Turbo w/vtec
If I wanted to aimed for 350-400whp with a turbo setup on a h22, should vtec be disconnected or it should work just as should. Would it depend on whether or not turbo cams are used vs stage 1,2,or 3 cams. I had a guy I work with claim that a tuning shop had to diconnect his b series vtec because the engine would flood with too much air. I don't believe it because the tune should get rid of the air flow problem correct.

To make lots of power you need more air and more fuel, so how can vtec hurt by adding more air? What that guy you work with said makes no sense lol. There are like eleventy billion people running vtec turbo hondas, so I think you will be okay.

haha strange...I was just asked the same thing last night. Although he was quite new to turbos, I just found it funny. There is definitely a myth going around....kinda curious how it got started though

Re: Turbo w/vtec (95GSRTT)
when installing a turbo, the vtec gets in the way. You will have to remove it by taking out the 4 12mm bolts holding Vtec in. Then you have to get a Mad Tyte Motorsports Anti-Vtec plate.

Re: Turbo w/vtec (flight50)
the only way vtec could cause too much air is if either the tuner doesn't have a clue or if your injectors are too small. most turbo vtec cars actually try to engauge the sytem earlier to eliminate 1st gear wheel spin in my case it was dropped to 3700. don't get rid of vtec unless you get mad cams and my tuner said itr ctr cams work soo well w/turbo why would you spend the money to get rid of vtec.

Actually the person thinking of that had the correct idea. I mean, that is the reason we don't run Vtec all the time, hence high rpm cams are bad for low rpm , but for VTEC not to be used during boost is just ignant. Most cams in cars are not well suited for boost(high duration low lift), but Honda's high revving cams actually aren't that bad for boost. So even though the person who started this rumor might have thought correctly, he didn't look at why or how they are actually pretty good.
