Which turbo to use?
I am going to build a "junkyard turbo" for my 90 civic. I want to stay with my d-series motor but eventually build a 1.6 block. But for now and down the road what is the best turbo to use? I am considering a IHI RHB5. Also i have a friend that is thinking about upgrading his WRX turbo and offered to sell it to me but i havent found too much info on that turbo. Also any opinions about T-25, TD05, or any other turbo that would be good power and a good price. Please Help.
im going IHI RHB5 also, its a small turbo though, enough to meet
my needs...
many guys here would say the D15 motor isnt strong enough
to hold boost because of dinky rods...so i would think about a zc
or a 1.6 ( if u eventually blow your motor)
grab the IC off the same car youre getting the turbo off of...
and good luck!!

I am still trying to find a company that will sell me a 8.8 piston and eagle rod. But seriously i am trying to find opinions about turbos. I am going to build a 1.6 block but right now i am trying to get a basic turbo and build from there. I will upgrade some parts with better parts. But i want to build up around my basic setup.
a friend of mine (who is also doing my custom turbo set up with a DSM TD05H, IC and 1G BOV) is running a TD04H on his 1.5L and was pushing 8psi last year with almost 100mph trap speeds on the 1/4.
I personally would use this motor ( and I actually swapped mine out of my hatch for the complete D16Z6swap, a cheap but yet fun alternative).
anyway this i with just an FMU and fuel pump and no other major upgrades. It really impressed me and put down some nice numbers. I think he did a HP calculation from his 1/4 time and its like 200+ I think. not bad for the bottom of the food chain honda motor.
the moral of the story, I guess there is potential in any motor if you set it up and tune it right.

Building a z6 is another option i am considering. Havent decided yet. Finishing the dpfi to mpfi currently then i am going to start the turbo. What FMU and pump did you use Hybrid?

Look at my site. It will show you how to use the T25 in the 88-91 CRX which is identical to the civic if you have the Si model. If you have the DX model, forget turbocharging.

I have already looked at your site and AbaZ's homemade turbo website. I am trying to decide which turbo to use with my kit. I want to know what the differences are, if any, and which would provide the most power, which spools up quicker and so on. I have the dx motor and i am going to turbochage it.
sorry about that man, I haven't checked in a few day's.
He used a vortech with a holley in tank pump ( I think thats the fuel pump). I think he was using a 12:1 disck but went down to 10:1.
I'm buying the FMU off him this week with the calabration kit for 100Ca. He is getting the holly SFMU so he can adjust he base fuel pressure cause he is running some more boost with year with an alcohol injection and some nos switches to activate the whole thing.
So pick up a used FMU cause you may decide to swap it out for a stand alone, or you just may keep it and buy an APEX'i SFAC. Which is prob what I'll do as only a few people were I live just barly know stand alone engine management, let alone tunning it. Plus where I'm on the most easterly coast of Canada, heaven forbid I run into probs.
