Default Turbo Question

Here is the deal:

The turbine inside the turbo with the blades on, does not turn at idle. it will spin when i rev up the engine, but not at idle, and it also will not boost. the car will run fine up to the point were it would have boosted, and then my car basically stalls. it doesnet turn off, but it wont rev up or do anything until i let the revs go down, and then i can go again until boost. Also, if i use half throttle and dont boost, the engine will be fine all the way to redlone. what is wrong??

What might cause that? No turbo timer, oil line clogged, etc?

I've heard of alot of people whose compressors do not spin at idle, even mine on occasion hasn't spun at idle, there's very little load at 700rpm during idle so, depending on this size of the turbo, I'd think it's reasonable to conclude that the lack of pressure applied to the turbine is what causes the compressor to sit still rather than a damaged turbo... not to say that the turbo isn't damaged per-se, but there could be other reasons.

Perhaps your fuel system is broken... What do you have for fuel enrichment?

Can't go into boost = fuel system or throwing a MAP code.

Mising link would have absolutly nothing to do with his turbo not creating boost, missing link is used just to trick the MAP sensor from reading boost....

I don't understand how your guys' turbo's wont spin at idle...Your car would die because all of the exhaust gases could not escape! The only way they can leave the engine is via the turbine side of the turbo...Are you guys saying that there's no exhaust fumes coming out of your exhaust cause the turbine blade isn't spinning? If the turbine blade isn't spinning, there should be no exhaust fumes coming OUT of your exhaust...

well at 800 rpm's, there isnt a lot of exhaust exiting, not enough to turn the turbine.--i think

Well, exhaust fumes are still coming out of the muffler at idle, so how would those exhaust fumes reach the muffler if the turbine isn't spinning? Not trying to be a dick, just shedding some light.

My turbo has over 15k miles on it and it spins nice at idle... not spinning must be a sign of too much coke up... Then again I have a water-cooled turbo so that MUST help the anti-coking... plus I have a time which I use at a minimum of 40 seconds before shutting her down, 3min 30secs after LONG trips...
