turbo problems

Default turbo problems

i have a d16y7 with a td04h turbo set up on it fmu ,injectors,plugs,retarded timingand i have two problems one my oil smells like gas and two when i hit 6 pounds of boost the car stutters and drops boost to 5 then it pulls again i have the missing link for the map sensor so i know its not that i would appreciate any help you can give this is the setup i have

vortech 10-1 FMU
240cc injectors
tdo4h turbo
6psi boost
missing link
dsm blow off valve
zex turbo plugs
timing retarded2 degrees
internally wastegated

fuel management wasnt the problem on the first motor i had a fuel leak and when i hit boost, mixture too lean melted #4 piston

Your oil smelling like gas is because its probably running crazy rich--FMU,bigger injectors and retarded timing = pig rich

you also mentioned that you had the same setup on your last motor the lasted a day and you blew the motor

ill post the same thing here

and you put the same fuel mangement on the 2nd motor.
learn from your mistakes and get rid of the FMU.

list a little more detail about your setup

what size turbo?
how much boost?
what size injectors?
what kind and size FMU?

also still running the stock mid section would that have anything to do with it? 1 3/4id down pipe is 2 1/2 id

No, your half-assed fuel management is the problem.

Get something tunable, some larger injectors, and some dyno tuning done and that will most likely fix your problem.

so as far as tuning what would you reccomend safc, obd1 conversion w/hondata or similar? because i would like to stay obd2 because of emmisions its a daily drive ...would i still pass if i went obd1

also my friend is running the same setup but doesnt have any problems...only difference is the turbo and the manifold he is running t3 with log mani mines tubular and tdo4h

Keep the OBD2 stuff around so that when emissions tests come around, you can put that on. I recommend a chipped ECU running your choice of engine management: Hondata, Crome, Uberdata, etc.
