Which turbo is for me? SC34 or SC61
First my current set up:
98 Integra LS
Stock top end
Bottom end:
9.5 Wiseco piston
Eagle rod
Oem honda bearing
ARP headstud
New OEM water punp
New OEM oil Pump
New OEM Timing belt
currently running a greddy set-up right now and the top end suck *****, so for my next set up i want to build it strictly for the highway, which i want my power band to be between 4500-7000 rpm.
What i've decided to buy:
BmcRace log manifold
BmcRace 3 inch downpipe
BmcRace Dumptube
Tial 38mm Wastegate
and for the turbo im kind of stuck between the sc34 or sc61, i know that with the sc34 i would have a much more usable powerband but since im only looking for top end the sc61 might be a good choice, as for my power goal. I would like to see around 350whp at around 20 psi of boost, and not planning on breaking the 400whp barrier thus another reason the sc34 would be better for me but from what i read about the smallest sc61, b18b1 user have been able to fully boost at around 4800 which my shift point should land right there if i shift at 6800. Please give me your input on which is better for my needs
Also im looking into buying an electronic boost controller, the profec b II seem to be pretty good but i heard it very tricky to use, if so is there any other good boost controller at the same price range?

My vote is SC34, or at least thats what I'm running. No problems here . I plan on around 450whp with the 34 and a mild build. We shall see, muhhahahahahaa

97hb, more info on your set-up please, like how much boost are you currently running? and what spool time are you getting and does the power drop off a lot?

i was looking into the sc61 for a b18c1 and i was going to say the same thing, i guess the thing that needs to be taken into consideration is different people's application, internals, and driving characteristics?

no idea what a shytbird manifold look like, is it a log type manifold because i will be using a log manifold and 3 inch downpipe, if i could get the sc61 to full boost at or before 5000 then i might go with it.

I think about it and i belive the sc34 would be better for me, my goal is only 350whp and i could do that with the sc34 at 20 psi no problem i believe

I have an inline pro mani, tial 38mm w/g, 550 injectors and the 34. I made 304/267 at 14.3lbs It makes full boost at 4300rpm and doesn't stop(at least for the LS redline). I personally think the 34 is perfect for the LS motor

Re: Which turbo is for me? SC34 or SC61 (97hb)
bringing it back, but i have personal experience with an sc61 on a stock ls motor. i hit full boost (.6 bar) at about 5500. i ended up trading it for a sc44 and then had to sell it all. i liked the sc44 better than the sc61, i hit full boost (.62 bar) at 4500, but it still just felt like way too much lag for me.
my car was just recently totalled after some hail storms, and after i bought the car back, i have just enough money to boost again. i've already ordered the sc34 this time around.
