TURBO HELP
hey my friend is building an ls vtec turbo this is what he has
ls block
gsr head
ls crank
gsr eagle rods
gsr 8.5:1 cr pistons
stock sleeves
block gaurd
this setup will give him 10.2:1 cr
which turbo would be reccomended for this setup with the 10.2:1 cr?
he wants to just run it on 93oc and want the most possible power but safely and he also has s200 w/ boost to tune it in yall opinions what would be the best turbo for him to use safely?? and how much boost to run on it

he doesn't have a hp goal he just wants to get the max power out of it he can safely with the stock sleeves and 10.2:1 cr he just doesn't want his **** to blow up for at least a year or so
your question is actually still too vague there are still so many opinions that could be thrown out there. we also need to know what spool characteristics he wants cause that will determine which turbo to vote for then you can base more numbers off that.
but i would suggest a .63 hotside and a 57/60 coldside. then you could go somewhere in the 350-400 range ok. maybe more. that will give you a good overall range of power and fairly high HP number possible. everything is a trade off with turbos you have to give up something to gain so figure out where you stand there
you want the best info ask your tuner. they will guide you more toward what they have experience with and know will give you what you want.
if this is one of those "HOW MUCH POWERZ CAN I MAKE WITH 25 LBS OF BOOST BLAH BLAH" questions ... meaning if all you want to know is max power possible you probably will not be helped here. so much more to it than that.
but with the right set up with those parts you could prob run about 400ish max for a while

i wouldnt worry about the compression as much as i would worry about the sleeves.
Stock sleeves will easily handle 450, so a 60-1 or something along those lines would be best.

thats what we were worrying about dudn't know how much the stick sleeves could handle he would also like something that could spool up around 3k or so which 10.2:1 cr will spool up just about ne small to medium turbo fairly fast he just wants an all aound nice turbo for bottom end and top end the hp number doesn't matter he just wants something that will work well with his setup and be fairly fast yet SAFE
