Turbo H22 setup idea?
Ive recently been thinking about going turbo and toying around with different combinations of parts, and trying to step outside the box a little, shy away from b series, and explore bigger platforms. I came up with a setup that I figure is a good combination and just want some feedback. This is just a basic layout followed by reasons for choosing said parts. I want to take the idea one step at a time before I get into specifics like cams, headers, intake manifold, etc.
f23 block, stock iron sleeves, stock bore 86mm, mains size 55mm less chance of spinning a bearing, bored to at least 86.5 to ensure cylinder roundness
h22 crank from a 98+, has 55mm mains like the f23 block, forged unlike the f22 (not sure about the f23), shorter stroke more rev friendly with boost
h22 head, this is a given, dohc vtec
Custom length forged rods, shorter stroke in taller block, so pistons wont reach top of cylinders. This will help with that as well as helping with the rod/stroke ratio making it even more rev/boost happy with less side load on cylinder walls
Custom forged pistons, aiming for 9:1, good compression ratio for moderate boost
96+ spec jdm itr trans, stock 4.4 fd, oem lsd for now anyway, gsr 5th gear (already have this)
bisi H2b kit
I dont really have any specific goals, just looking to make a safe boosted car with a bigger platform engine for potential down the road. This will be my first boosted car, and im well aware this might be a little overboard, but boost is addictive (or so im told) and I want room to grow. If I follow through it will start with low boost for dd, until I get bored or get another dd lol
