did you check the basics, fuel, spark etc??? id start there, i highly doubt its because of the fuel you added. the msd is probably installed wrong.

I'm guessing the ignition isn't done right. Take out a spark plug, put the plug wire on it, and hold the side of the plug against the head. See if it sparks when someone tries to start your car.

Report back.

ok it starts but i think i have a vacuum leak which caused the whole problem in the first place. MSD install is fine i just re checked. its idling high thou, should the idle screw be in for slightly higher revs and out for lower or vice versa?
also anyone know what happens if u "dont" put the rev chip (i.e. 6000rpm) in the side of the MSD box? does it mean no rev limit? or does it not start....
thanks

you dont have to run a "rev limit" pill if you dont want too..

the car will start..
and if you have an ecu with a revlimit that one still applys

the only reason the 6al has the rpm pill is

1. domestic cars of the older era that didnt have a rev limiter, cause of no ECU's
2. addition of 2-step or other rpm designated devices

im in north london, near watford. whereabouts is yourself?

The cars starting but I think im not giving it enough fuel with the SAFC so it dies at low revs... do people normally set their SAFC to about -25 at idle? mine is at -36 accross the board? I'll go try that

d16z6? so you'll have VTEC to play with too nice, i wish i'd gone for a B16 or something now maybe a H22 prelude would have been a good engine for a track car choice. The car is sitting in my parents car port and has been for the last couple of years. i just keep odering stuff from ebay and fitting it then getting it to idle again... it hasnt driven anywhere in two years. Ive done quite a bit to it thou, lowered 40mm, tinted, re sprayed bright yellow and removed and smoothed rubbing strips, bumper.
I have stripped out the back seats and re located the battery to the boot.
I mainly wanted the car so i could learn about engines and it has been a good learning curve... engine wise i have added/replaced ...
HF manifold for Turbo, adaptor plate, T25 turbo from a 2.0 saab (breakers yard)
450DSM injectors
Apexi SAFC hack
fuel pressure regulator
saab turbo downpipe (re-fabbed)
supersprint cat back exhaust centre section.

if its up and running properly i'll take it but i think im gonna go the whole way with this car, pistons, rods and i'll like to get away from using the SAFC, all of which i dont reckon i'll be able to afford till start of next year. Is it a second car your modifying or your daily driver?

what kind of coil are you using with the 6al? stock coils dont play nicely with the aftermarket ignition boxes for some reason on honda's...

I have the standard coil, should I upgrade? if do you have any idea what is the best choice of coil to go with the MSD 6AL?

I shall check out importparts.com just gotta save a little £££ first. I gotta spare d16a9 too.. handy isnt it.
