MSD ingnition question
No, it wont do much good. Stock ignition is quite capable.
Problem with MSD ignition is specifically on cars with vacuum timing, because you'd have to get rid of that, and that will affect not only gas mileage, but driveability too.

A msd will add greater spark to your ignition system when used with a aftermarket coil as well. By itself it doesnt really do much but make your wallet lighter. By itself I have seen it time and time again burn out your factory coil. If your are turbocharged,higher compression with larger injectors or anything where burning more fuel is an advantage id recommend it. If your pretty much stock, I dont see a need for one.

It doesnt really make the spark greater compared to the stock high voltage ignition, compared to a points ignition it would, but thats because you cant use 12v on them.

stock ignition coil is rated for 25,000volts and very low amperage....msd coils are rated at 48,000volts(and up) and much higher amp...so your statement is dead wrong...ive worked on engines with very high compression and watched as the stock ignition failed badly because of the increased cylinder pressure...

Stock no-name brand coil on my nissan sunny is 41,000volts. My toyota has a 45,000volt coil and its being replaced by a bosch coil runnin at 50,000v when I get down to the wiring.... Hondas arent that much different, I think you should study this stuff more, I build race cars for living. Compression has nothing to do with ignition failing.

take the part number and lookup the specs on the stock honda coil...nuff said...increased compression = increased cylinder pressure which is the reason why people upgrade ignitions...i dont build race cars for a living but i do work on drag boat motors making 1800+hp....nuff said
