ha ha man after reading all of this it makes me laugh...you want to turbo a stock motor...and yet you do not want to spend alot of money...you will spend more money fixing your car if you do it wrong then if you were to acctually save up some money and run off the stock car...no matter what you do...no matter what you get...any "fast" car you get is going to sink you into the whole if you do not do it write...save up money buy a b16/b18 and you will have your speed...if you want more then you can turbo it, ha ha but then your going to have to get a better ECU chip-it for more and get it tuned....i know i just had all of this done...its worth it but it to do it right. you will do more damage if you do not...good luck its all sorts of fun

ha ha that is funny, i mean honestly why would you come into a HONDA-TECH website and rag on hondas....? that is like going into a chinees place and raging on there food...your bound to get your *** beet
funny funny

im not into american cars only. I like anything that has potential. I like hondas too, but its not my first choice. Im on a honda tech website because i drive a honda that someone tore up like most the hondas on the streets. Thats great that atreyu57 that you beat a saleen. then you went home and that was the end of it. not trying to offend anyone. but what i meant by saying its just a honda was that its in a different class of car then what i want to start dumping money into it. Even if i spent a whole crap load of money on it then i know that some guy with a subaru or a supra or any other car that cost alot in its day could toast my little honda with minor modifications. All im saying is if i want to be the fastest car on the street i would have started with a differnt platform. this is my daily driver, there is safe boost limits for any car and thats all i want. just want to have some fun in it and make some money. (not racing it) so to all the insecure honda people that get worried the minute i say anything negative about the honda civic, expletive you, you dont know me, just because i didnt find the time to explain everything to all of you. I was asking for advice on cheap tuning and a short cut, i didnt need to know that i should just spend the money on stand alone or get a new hobbie. I know there are understanding people on here who know that i dont want to have 10000 in this car in 5 years. I have never owned an american car in my entire life. with gas the way it is then i would never get one either. i guess the only way to not be gay is to drive a front wheel drive 1.6 liter to all of you though. but i guess these are the guys that are wearing sandles and and making sure thier hat is perfectly crooked on thier head and making sure thier collar on the shirt is sticking up just right calling me a ******.
I would recommend using the shiny red button in the top right corner.
There is more information about honda builds, NA, turbo and any other combo than you could fathom in a lifetime if you spent every day for 8 hours a day just researching.
All info that you could think of on a good drunk night was already thought of by engineers with degrees and making more money than you could dream about.
all you have to do is search.
I am putting a turbo build together with almost all new parts and am looking for a 2500.00 price tag. That includes ECU, block, vtec head (a6,z6 mini-me) Rods, pistons, HG, gasket set, bearings, water pump, Timing belt, Valve springs, titanium retainers, and way more parts.
It is possible but you must research what will work. There is a lot of machining, measuring, finesse and engine build experience needed for this.
To turbo a daily driven honda is possible, but like everyone else says It is all in the tuning.
If you have a shitty or no tune job then you are going to lose the reliability that oh so must have for cheap.
Even if you are not racing anytime you go against the grain and start screwing with the stock setup you are going to spend money. If not right away then 6 months from now a year from now.
Think of Honda's to us at Honda-Tech as a Harley to a Biker. This is not a car it is a way of life. Most of us would bleed blue H's if we were to get cut.
Take it for what it is and do your own thing. But stay true to yourself and expletive the rest.

get ready for some destruction my friend...
my best option for 'cheap/shortcut' tuning is dsm 450cc injectors and a vafc.
retard your distributor and borrow a wideband (if possible) and just adjust the fuel...
it's very unsafe, but you want a cheap/shortcut tune for a cheap/shortcut setup...
have fun! i'll be on the lookout for your next thread... "hole in my block, what could it be?"

dude there is stock block d16 on here that runs a 12.1. i dont know about u but theres not to many cars of the showroom floor that will beat that. i know stock sti's and evo's only run low 13's. so a properly tuned d16 can straight up rip.
dude.... homemadeturbo.com is your friend.... we turbo'd a d16a6 for $500 with a fmic. ended up at about 200whp. all it takes is some research, some know-how, and some patients.
thanks for the constructive comments. i have this big fear of finding myself with a maxed out credit card and a over the top honda. since i did this post i have been talked out of it for what i plan, im going to do a properly built turbo ls, or mildly built b16. nothing over the top, just something isnt going to make me turn into a serial killer if it gets stolen. i like the idea of a fast d series. but i just cant get excited about it no matter how much i try. if its a honda it should(imo) have a b series. sorry all you turbo d guys.

ha ha i whent home and that was then end of it? end of what my car? ha ha no you see i put time and MONEY into my car and it drives just fine...and as fare as subaru goes i just took a brand new 2006 STI and a brand new EVO...you can make anything fast with the right amount of money....the only reason everyone got on your back is because everyone on here respects hondas ALOT and then you come on and say that "its just a honda" well bud there are alot of fast stock d16 hondas outthere that have money in them...thats all you need is money and then smarts to get things going. if you choose another car good for you...but if you choose a honda the best of luck...your going to need it
i woudl personally recommend a Greddy bolt and go kit as your first setup. jsut make sure you get the kti that corresponds to the years your car is in if you want direct bolt and go style. the other yr will work, but you will have to do some modification to the engine management system.
it will bolt to your stock cat and allow you tyo retain your AC. most kits on ebay run about $1500 or so new.
